Kii (紀伊) was a province of Japan located in the Kansai region. During the Sengoku period, it bordered the province of Yamato to the northeast, and Izumi Settsu to the northwest.[1] The region is known for the abundance of Shinto and Buddhist temples, in particular the Kumano shrines.[2]
