Biography
Early life
For most of his early life, Wakasa lived a nomadic lifestyle as a pirate.[2] At some point before 1581, she decided to settle in Sakai in order to get control of the city's gun market and started gaining power, infiltrating herself right into the town's elite. She managed to get close to Imai Sōkyū, Oda Nobunaga's master of the tea ceremony and one of the biggest merchants in Sakai's port, attending private tea ceremonies hosted by Sōkyū.[1]
Siege of Iga and death
Although Ido Yoshihiro managed to steal the box from Naoe during the siege of Iga, the young kunoichi infiltrated Katano Castle shortly thereafter, killing Yoshihiro and recovering the box. However, a masked Wakasa along with Wada Koretake were waiting for her on the outskirts of the castle, with Wakasa gravely injuring Naoe with a shot of his customized tanegashima. After a brief argument with Koretake on who should keep the box, Fujibayashi Nagato surprised them both, defeating Wakasa easily and cutting one of Koretake ears off. The rest of the Shinbafuku appeared shortly thereafter, overpowering Nagato and leaving him and Naoe to die.
Naoe, being the only survivor of the two and after nursing his injuries, decided to get revenge on the Shinbafuku for killing his father. By Tomiko's advice, she decided to look for a teppo craftman on Sakai who could make a custom tanegashima with gold engravings, just like the one that the woman who shot her had. She eventually managed to infiltrate one of Imai Sōkyū's private tea ceremony, with Wakasa attending along with Otama and Lady Satoko. Wakasa, who didn't recognize Naoe at first, was friendly to her and sensed that they had something in common. The four ladies then entered the ceremony, with Wakasa giving a dagger owned by former shōgun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu to Sōkyū as a gift at the end of it.[1]

After the ceremony ended, Wakasa invited Naoe to his house, where she talked about her ambitions for Sakai and offered Naoe a place working for her. However, Naoe started examining Wakasa's tanegashima, prompting the latter to tell Naoe that it was not a toy. Naoe responded that it was "a coward's weapon", which made Wakasa fully remember who she was. Wakasa tried to bargain for his life, offering Naoe to lead her to the box location. Naoe declined the offer, stating that she had no use for her if she didn't tell her the exact location of the box, before fatally shooting her on the head.[1]
