Depending on the player's choice and recovering all of the clues, if Takahashi Inoshichi is killed first, Shiro will join his brothers Taro, Jiro, and Saburo at the garden to avenge their father. Meanwhile, his other brother Goro and sister Ichi-Hime are spared and freed from their family's grasp. Thus, Shiro may be killed at Nijo Palace or at the secret garden.

Takahashi Shiro (died 1582) was a Japanese samurai and member of the Takahashi clan who lived in Kyoto.

Biography

One of five sons of Takahashi Inoshichi, Shiro and his siblings Taro, Jiro, Ichi-Hime, and Saburo were extensively trained by their father after their mother's passing, except for Goro. However, under their father's orders, he, Jiro, Taro, and Saburo tormented and attacked Kyoto and its people.[1]

By 1582, Shiro became known as the clan's enforcer and was labelled as "The Oni" due to his massive strength. While he was combative with his samurai brothers, he was shown compassion and acceptance from Ichi-Hime and Goro. Upon hearing that Goro and Ichi-Hime may leave, he planned to confront Taro for scaring them away from the family.[1]

Meanwhile, his family's behavior garnered the attention of Ujimasa, a friend of former Ise clan leader Ise Sadatame, who spoke with Sadatame's allies, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, about the Takahashi's grasp over Kyoto.[2]

One day, Shiro had an outburst, which led him to destroy a merchant's cart over not having a blue fan for his sister. This garnered the attention of the locals while soldiers gossipped about the incident along their patrol, which Naoe and Yasuke overheard. Using this information, the Kakushiba ikki members tracked Shiro to Nijo Palace, where the samurai had been forcefully stationed as a result of his earlier outburst. Ultimately, Shiro met his end at Naoe and Yasuke's hands.[1]

Personality and traits

Takahashi Shiro was an explosive samurai, who was caught in the middle of his family's drama. He was a burly, tall, and bald individual who carried a kanabō as his main weapon. While he had a somewhat childish disposition and would react violently if his demands were not met, he cared about his family, especially his siblings Ichi-Hime and Goro, and was willing to go to great lengths to please them.[1]

Behind the scenes

Depending on the player's choice, if Shiro is not killed before his father Takahashi Inoshichi, he will join Taro, Jiro, and Saburo at their father's secret garden to avenge his death. Meanwhile, Goro and Ichi-Hime can be spared by the player, becoming free of their family's grasp. Thus, Shiro may be killed at Nijo Palace or at the secret garden.
