The Laughing Man (died 1582) was a Japanese rōnin and participant in kabukimono culture located in Harima.
Biography
As a kabukimono, the Laughing Man was one of the multiple rōnin who attacked the communities across the provinces of Izumi Settsu and Harima. Alongside the Corrupt Blade and the Peacock, he was one of three elite kabukimono. However, the priest Shin'nyo of the Nishinomiya Shrine conversed with the Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe and enlisted her help to take down the kabukimono.[1]
By 1582, the Laughing Man was known for his insatiable hunger for power and recruited any rōnin willing to follow his campaign. Yet, Naoe soon found and assassinated the Laughing Man before retrieving a trinket, the Flight of the Ubagabi, from his personal effects.[1]
