Takahashi Inoshichi (高橋 猪七; died 1582) was a Japanese samurai and patriarch of a branch of the Takahashi clan who lived in Kyoto during the 16th century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Father to six children, Takahashi Inoshichi was a troubled person, but with his wife by his side, he became a better man. However, upon her passing, he became cold, callous, and ruthless to his children. Under Inonshichi's tutelage and through his allegiance to Ise clan leader and Shinbakufu member Ise Sadaoki, his once-respected family started to terrorize the community as a means to exercise their power over the region.[1]

By 1582, their crimes were noticed by Ujimasa, a friend of former Ise clan leader Ise Sadatame, who corresponded with Sadatame's allies, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, about dismantling the samurai's grasp over Kyoto.[2]

During this time, Inonshichi hid himself in the confines of a secret garden west of Honnō-ji, while exerting his command over his children to continue their abuse over Kyoto. However, he was eventually tracked down by Naoe and Yasuke, and killed by the Kakushiba ikki members.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Depending on the player's choice, if Inoshichi is not the last member of his family to be killed, any of his four samurai sons – Taro, Jiro, Saburo, and Shiro – who are still alive will arrive at the garden to avenge him, giving Naoe or Yasuke an opportunity to eliminate them. Meanwhile, his other son Goro and daughter Ichi-Hime are spared and freed from their family's grasp.
