The Peacock (孔雀; died 1582) was a Japanese rōnin and participant in kabukimono culture located in Harima.
Biography[edit | edit source]
As a kabukimono, the Peacock was one of the many rōnin who attacked the communities across the provinces of Izumi Settsu and Harima. Alongside the Corrupt Blade and the Laughing Man, he was one of three elite kabukimono. However, the priest Shin'nyo of the Nishinomiya Shrine met with and sought the help of the Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe to eliminate the kabukimono and put an end to their activities.[1]
By 1582, the Peacock was known for his exuberant style and had called for any rōnin to take up his banner. However, he was soon found and assassinated by Naoe, who took a bow, The Sleight of Hand, from his personal effects.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Peacock is a character in Assassin's Creed: Shadows, serving as one of eight targets in the memory "The Kabukimono". After eliminating all other kabukimono, the player is given a choice how to approach the Peacock, the Corrupt Blade, and the Laughing Man when posting a reply to their recruitment message on a board at the Nishinomiya Shrine. Depending on this choice, Naoe will either kill the Peacock on his patrol in northern Harima or assassinate him alongside the other two elite kabukimono at a small outpost in southern Harima.
