Udono Nagateru holds Sena and her children Nobuyasu and Kamehime hostage in the tenshu of Kaminogō Castle. Sena states her defiance against Nagateru's belief but he then grabs her and tells her if she wants to be his. Before he could go any further, Hattori Hanzō arrives and makes his presence known. Surprising Nagateru, Hanzō throws a shuriken towards him but it is stopped by a knife. Out of the frames, Paulino Massa introduces himself as he just saved Nagateru. However, Nagateru rebuffs his presence and why the Templar has intruded on them.
Massa informs Nagateru that he thanks him for all he has done and that he is relieved of his post. Confused, Nagateru is instantly shot in the head while Sena covers her children's faces. Massa then tells Hanzō that he knew Matsudaira Takechiyo would send a shinobi as he received correspondence from Kuroiwa Gonjou-rou about his attempt on Momochi Sandayu in Iga, detailing Hanzō and his allies' activities. With this revelation out in the open, Massa offerred a choice to Hanzō, while aiming his pistol at Sena and her children. Massa instructs Hanzō to give the location of the Imperial Regalia in exchange for their lives. Upon choosing, Hanzō overhears orders as the castle begins to go up in flames. Below, Hanzō catches sight of his father Yasunaga ordering his archers to attack. Meanwhile, Massa reminds him again to choose, leaving Hanzō overwhelmed.
