Summary[edit | edit source]
- Iga, 1560
Momochi Sandayu, standing alongside Tsuyu, begins to tell his students Hattori Hanzō and Fujibayashi Masayasu that what is stated in this room stays between the four of them. When Masayasu asks why, Alvaro Catarribera interrupts, asking the same sentiment. Sandayu explains that both men are his two youngest students while Alvaro introduces himself and the young woman as his apprentice, Tsuyu. Alvaro then explains their mission as members of the Assassin Brotherhood and details how another group, the Templars, have been working for the last eleven years to take over Japan.
Alvaro states that he had been posing as a missionary on a Templar ship to spy on them and uncovered their plans to steal the Imperial Regalia in order to control the people of Japan. Their goal is to steal the Imperial Regalia before the Templars can. Masayasu asks to know more about the Templars, to which Alvaro explains that their purpose is to bring the entire world under their control and establish their vision of a utopia, no matter the cost. He also recalls his time in Spain, where the Templars enacted a massacre that killed many of his fellow Assassins and friends. Tsuyu remarks that the Assassins oppose the Templars because they believe in people's freedom to make their own choices.
Alvaro reveals that the Templars have been spotted in Sakai and have begun to expand their influence under the guise of doing business with local merchants. Hanzō interrupts by asking why they were picked for this mission instead of well-known samurai or the powerful daimyō. Alvaro explains that Iga has been under no political power and strove under their independence, something they share in common. Hanzō explains that he comes from a family of samurai and asks to hunt down these foreign invaders himself to rid the land of the problem. Sandayu tells Hanzō that this is not the only reason they came and that Catarribera holds a petition from an important figure.
Showing the petition, Alvaro reveals that the late Emperor Go-Nara himself lent the Brotherhood his support in their fight against the Templar. Hanzō then asks what Tsuyu has against the likes of him and other shinobi. Instantly, Tsuyu attacks and incapacitates Hanzō, telling him that he is an arrogant fool. Leaving Hanzō on the floor, Tsuyu walks back while Alvaro chuckles and Masayasu is left stunned. On the floor, Hanzō looks back at how strong Tsuyu was and realizes she would make a great wife. Grinning, Hanzō sits up and apologizes for his remarks while Tsuyu extends an apology of her own. With the matters resolved, Sandayu ends the meeting and tells Hanzō, Masayasu, and Tsuyu to get some sleep, as tomorrow they will commence the next phase of their training, learning to become not just shinobi, but also Assassins.
