Plot synopsis[edit | edit source]
After killing the two Shimazu ninja that came looking for him, Nagamasa accepts Shimazu Saito's offer and agrees to join forces against the Shimazu clan. However, he warns her early on that they may betray her should she mistreat him or his men. Saito assures Nagamasa that it will not be the case and compares their uneasy alliance to the one between herself and Edward Kenway, much to both her and Edward's amusement.
After Nagamasa reveals that Fuma Sukuna's ninja and the Rattan Shield Company are currently pursuing Yun Pyeong-Gyu and the other Zhang Wei Union members who ambushed them, Edward decides to go help the latter and runs off. Meanwhile, Saito decides to set a trap for Sukuna and enlists the help of Nagamasa, his men, and Xialun Qing.
In the forest, Yun and the others manage to keep the Company soldiers at bay using their long-range weapons, as the shieldmen's armor impairs their mobility. However, while reloading their weapons, the Union members notice that the soldiers have vanished, and they suddenly come under attack by Shimazu ninja, whose speed allows them to quickly close the distance. A ninja attacks and almost kills Yun, who defends himself with his bow until Edward arrives and impales his assailant from behind.
Upon spotting the Assassin, the ninja attempt to retreat as Sukuna instructed them to, but they all swiftly fall to Edward's blade. As Yun goes to thank Edward for the rescue, he notices that the Assassin does not appear to be himself and deduces he has again fallen under the crescent amulet's influence.
Elsewhere, Saito has Qing serve as bait by standing in an open field, knowing Sukuna cannot resist the opportunity to take a valuable hostage. Sure enough, Sukuna and several of his ninja arrive moments later and attempt to capture Qing, but as soon as they step onto the field, Saito reveals herself and confronts Sukuna. After Saito declares her intention to avenge her late friends, Sukuna mockingly asks how she intends to do that by herself, only to be quickly surrounded from all sides by Nagamasa and his men, initiating a standoff.
