Summary[edit | edit source]
- Ise, 1562
Fujibayashi Masayasu stands in front of Tsuyu to protect her from the Portuguese Templar Balthazar and his men. While standing, he begins to recall a conversation with his father, who spoke that he must be patient and control his emotions while acting in the defense of others. If not, his actions will have no honor. Recognizing Masayasu as a shinobi from Iga, Balthazar gives the order for his men to kill Masayasu. When two soldiers attack Masayasu, the shinobi dodges their stabs and inadvertingly wounded each other. Masayasu soon dispatches the other man and insults Balthazar's attacks.
Dodging a dart, Masayasu uses his vision and spots the man behind a hedge. Instantly, he kills the man but not before dodging a shot from Balthazar's pistol. Masayasu soon attacks and fights Balthazar in sword combat. Masayasu remarks that they will fight against the Templars but places more on guarding Tsuyu as the utmost importance. While fighting, Balthazar seemingly manages to wound Masayasu, who falls to the ground. Out of breath, Balthazar uses this time to ready his sword and to plunge into Masayasu. In his last effort, Masayasu uses Hattori Hanzō's advice and throws a shuriken into the Templar's neck. Bleeding from the neck, Balthazar falls to the ground while Masayasu delivers the final blow, ending Balthazar's enterprise and life.
With no enemies in sight, Masayasu goes and frees the slaves on the ship. While the former captives thank him, Masayasu finds a boat and carries Tsuyu on his back onto the boat. Rowing away to the merchant district, Tsuyu remarks that she intends to continue their ruse as a wedded artist couple and lays her head on him. Shocked, Masayasu asks her to repeat what she said but she taunts him.
