Plot synopsis[edit | edit source]
As a drone surveys the activated Forgotten Temple, Sigma Team load onto a Humvee the lotus disk and a dimensional interference stabilizer built by Abstergo's scientists. The Templars hope that this device and the Pieces of Eden will allow them to pass through the temple's field and reach the complex so they can seize control of it and, in turn, use it to establish their New World Order.
Elsewhere, Noa Kim, Shimazu Sei, and Nathan Zhang are flying towards the temple in a plane that Claire Zhang secured for them. Keeping in contact with the team via earpiece, Claire calls their plan to parachute straight towards the Forgotten Temple crazy, but due to the lack of any alternatives, she has no choice but to go along with it. After Nathan briefly mocks his sister for finally sharing his "enthusiasm", the group reaches the temple and the plane's rear door opens. Noa thanks Sei for sticking with him until the very end, remarking that he never expected her to uphold her promise after everything they had been through, to which Sei claims that she could not let down their ancestors.
With that, the trio jump from the plane and, after freefalling for several seconds, deploy their parachutes. They land within the temple's field, causing them to be turned into their ancestors. The drone used by Claire to survey the team also enters the field, turning it into an eagle, but thanks to DedSec's counter-jamming algorithm, it remains operational and Claire can continue to observe and communicate with Noa and Sei.
After taking the artifact out of his bag, Noa, who has been turned into Edward Kenway, reunites with Sei, who has been turned into Shimazu Saito. Following some initial confusion, the two conclude that they are still themselves, albeit somehow "merged" with their ancestors via genetic memories. They then look around for Nathan, who has landed in a nearby tree. After falling to the ground, Nathan remarks that his mind is not strong enough and, telling Noa that he is counting on him to complete the mission, is transformed into his ancestor: John Young.
Noa and Sei briefly chastise Nathan for never telling them about his ancestry before he suddenly snatches the artifact from Noa's hand and runs away while mocking "Edward" for not being as sharp as he thinks. After concluding that Nathan has been overtaken by John's memories due to having never developing a resistance to the Bleeding Effect like they have, Noa and Sei give chase.
Trying to lose his pursuers, "John" soon comes across the Sigma Team members turned into East India Company soldiers, who are frozen around the Humvee carrying the crescent amulet. As Noa and Sei catch up, John tries calling out to the soldiers for help, but the close proximity of the two Pieces of Eden unfreezes the soldiers and causes their truck to turn into an elephant. Atop the elephant, a projection of Xiao Han appears, demanding that John hand over his artifact and claiming that any resistance will be met with death.
