Les Deux Royaumes
Les Deux Royaumes was a French comic book publisher, specifically responsible for transposing video game franchises into the world of comics. It was founded by Ubisoft in 2009 as a publishing house for the company, distributing titles based on Ubisoft intellectual properties such as The Rabbids and Assassin's Creed.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
On 30 June 2009, at the Interactive & Digital Entertainment Festival in Cannes, Ubisoft announced the creation of its own comic book publishing house. The name Les Deux Royaumes is French for 'The Two Thrones', a reference to Ubisoft's 2005 action-adventure video game Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. Ubisoft partnered with other French comic book publishers like Dargaud, Dupuis, and Le Lombard for distribution and advice.[2]
The first comic released by Les Deux Royaumes, Assassin's Creed 1: Desmond, was written by Éric Corbeyran and illustrated by Djilalli Defali. It was published in France on 11 November 2009.[2]
Les Deux Royaumes shut down in 2020 following the partnership between Ubisoft and Glénat Editions, which transferred all the works to Glénat.[2]
