Plot synopsis[edit | edit source]
Edward Kenway boards the Man O' War that rammed the Fenghuang and begins killing its crew. The British sailors struggle to keep up with the Assassin's speed and are swiftly massacred, until only the captain and one sailor remain. Edward promptly leaps into the air and impales the captain with his Hidden Blade, then shoots the fleeing sailor with his Phantom Blade.
With the deck cleared, Edward proceeds to take the ship's wheel and steer it away from the Fenghuang, clearing the path ahead. As he returns to the Fenghuang, Edward greets Rupiya, who informs him that the other pirates are fighting what is left of the East India Company's fleet. The Assassin then instructs Rupiya to sail the Fenghuang straight ahead, continuing their voyage towards the coast of Indochina.
Furious at his men's inability to stop the enemy's advance, the Templar admiral decides to take matters into his own hands and prepares to ram the Fenghuang with his flagship. The crew members begin to panic at the sight of the approaching Man O' War, with Rupiya remarking that a single broadside from the ship could sink the Fenghuang. Undeterred, Edward orders the captain to maintain the course, claiming that they will deal with any enemy in their path.
Before the Company Man O' War can engage the Fenghuang, it is boarded by Shimazu Saito, Nagamasa, and his men. The mercenaries make quick work of most of the British sailors, but the admiral orders his remaining men to form a firing line, which the mercenaries struggle to get past. Acting quickly, Saito looses an arrow at a rope holding a weight, causing the rope to snap back and trip the British sailors. This breaks the firing line and allows the mercenaries to shoot the ship's helm with their ōdzutsu, destroying it and leaving the sailors with no means of controlling their vessel.
With the Man O' War left adrift, Saito boards the Fenghuang and informs Edward and Rupiya that the Company's fleet will no longer pose a threat. This leaves Admiral Zheng's blockade as the sole obstacle in the crew's path to Indochina, so the Zhang Wei Union members prepare themselves for one final naval clash.
