Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 60
Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 60 is the sixtieth episode of Redice Studio's webtoon Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple, a sequel to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The webtoon, written by ARC and NOHT and with art by Tabii, was released on 11 June 2024.
Plot synopsis[edit | edit source]
Yun Pyeong-Gyu shows his fellow Zhang Wei Union members a miniature, Greek fire-fueled hot air balloon, explaining that his invention could be used to fly above Monkey Island and scout out enemy encampments. When John Young questions whether it could be used by a human, Yun offers to demonstrate with the real balloon, which he dubbed the Celestial Chariot. However, he explains that he is not yet certain how much weight the balloon can support, meaning the pilot will have to be an extremely light person. Shimazu Saito volunteers herself, only for John to point out that she has more muscle than he does, causing Saito to insult him in response.
Xialun Qing suddenly steps in and volunteers to be the pilot, explaining that she is the lightest member of the crew and that she wishes to be the first human to experience the miracle of flight. John protests at first, but eventually relents after Yun assures him that he has taken all the necessary safety precautions. Equipped with a parachute, Qing steps into the balloon's basket before the crew members cut the ropes holding it in place, allowing the Celestial Chariot to take flight.
On Monkey Island, Rajah's men spot the balloon and initially mistake it for a flying beast, before one of them clarifies that it is just a machine built by their enemies. He then orders the others to report to Rajah and to prepare to open fire on the Celestial Chariot. Meanwhile, Qing finishes surveying the island and draws a map with the locations of all enemy encampments before sending it down to the Fenghuang.
With the locations of the camps known, Edward Kenway orders the crew to fire on them using the ship's mortars, allowing them to continue their voyage safely. However, at that moment, a powerful gust of wind causes the burning Greek fire to spill inside the Celestial Chariot. As the balloon catches fire, Qing becomes trapped with no apparent way to escape while John and the others watch in horror.
