Summary[edit | edit source]
- Ise, 1562
Masayasu tells the host of the inn that he and his new wife are entertainers on their honeymoon. While the host leaves, Masayasu tells Tsuyu that it will be less suspicious for them instead of a lone woman on her own. In agreement, both continue their charade. Masayasu then recalls his last talk with Momochi Sandayu, who mentions their enemy will not wait and act immediately to find the Imperial Regalia. Thus, unlike his allies, he follows his own instinct that led him to accompany Tsuyu. While performing, one of the patrons compliments Tsuyu as his beautiful wife.
Looking at her, Masayasu witnesses Tsuyu play the tsuchibue and becomes mesmerized of her playing. When he asks her where she learned to play, Tsuyu states that she learned from her Master Alvaro Catarribera when she was younger. She admits that she is not talented in much but she was curious in the instrument. Her playing also attracts a portly patron, which catches their attention. When Tsuyu shares that they are from Iga, she shares Sandayu's name, to gauge his allegiance. Noticing the code, the patron takes them aside to a private room.
When both Tsuyu and Masayasu ask him about the Templars, the patron admits that the base of Templars is in Mikawa and the person they look for is a missionary Paulino Massa. Tsuyu then asks about the human trafficking ring in this region, to which the patron admits that monks and missionaries are secretly taking people that many will not miss and turning the world upside down. When he gives them information about a port near a bay where the Templars conduct their business, Tsuyu and Masayasu thank him for his help. However, after they left, he scoffs at their skills as he reveals himself to be an imposter working with the Templars and having killed Sandayu's contact earlier.
Walking to their room, Masayasu asks what is their plan but Tsuyu admits she will go by herself. Masayasu stops her and tells her that he can finally see his future thanks to her while trying to grab her hand. However, Tsuyu states that it hurts her when he looks at her so intensely and how they cannot be together in the same place. Seeing him sad, she apologizes and tells him that they should rest. However, in the middle of the night, Masayasu wakes up and sees Tsuyu gone. Having left the inn, Tsuyu travels towards the bay to keep Masayasu safe.
