Kamehime (亀姫, c. 1560 - 1625) was the daughter of Tokugawa Ieyasu and Lady Tsukiyama and the sister of Matsudaira Nobuyasu.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 1561, Kamehime, along with her mother Sena and her brother Nobuyasu, were held captive and jailed in Imagawa Mansion by Imagawa Ujizane. While Kamehime was asleep in her mother's arms, both Sena and Nobuyasu were scolded and instructed by Ujizane to behave or else they will no longer serve as pawns in his game.[2]
In 1562, Kamehime and her family were brought to Kaminogō Castle by Udono Nagateru. While asleep, she was nearly rescued by her father's retainer and shinobi Hattori Hanzō, however, Jesuit priest and Templar Paulino Massa stopped him. When Nagateru objected to his presence, Massa decidedly shot and killed Nagateru before turning his gun on Sena and her family. He then gave Hanzō a choice between them or the location of the Imperial Regalia.[3]
