Plot synopsis[edit | edit source]
The unidentified DedSec hacker plays an audio recording of a Templar discussing Abstergo's retrieval of the third Piece of Eden from Shimazu Saito's grave and their efforts to create a replacement device for the missing second artifact, as well as find the Forgotten Temple, where all three Pieces are meant to be brought together. The Templar then discusses Shimazu Sei, mentioning that as soon as Abstergo is done extracting all the relevant data from her genetic memories, she will be terminated to serve as an example to all Templar traitors.
As the recording comes to an end, the hacker claims that there is only one thing left to be done: assassinate Sei to prevent Abstergo from obtaining the information they're after. Nathan Zhang begins to laugh and express his support for the plan while mocking Noa Kim about his feelings for Sei, which he believes will prevent Noa from carrying out the mission. However, he states that, if Noa is uncomfortable with the thought of killing Sei, they will not force him to do it and that someone else can go in his place.
To Nathan's surprise, Noa agrees to carry out the mission, claiming that stopping Abstergo is what Sei would want and that she knew the risks when she allowed herself to be captured. He then asks DedSec for Sei's location, to which the hackers reveal that the doctor is being held at the Abstergo Genetic Research Lab in Osaka, Japan. With their objective clear, the group prepares to travel to Osaka and take out Sei before Abstergo can extract any more information out of her.
Standing atop a building in Osaka, Noa remarks that he always wished to visit Japan but this is not how he imagined it would happen. He then surveys the Research Lab with the help of DedSec, who provide him with the schematics of the facility and suggest that he break in through a rooftop vent. Readying his mission gear, Noa leaps off the building and begins to glide towards the Research Lab with his wingsuit. After reaching the rooftop, he takes off his wingsuit and crawls through the vents until he reaches the control room, where he plugs a flash drive into the servers, granting DedSec control of the facility's internal network.
After DedSec disables the security system, Noa begins to make his way to the 37th floor, where Sei is located. Along the way, he runs into two security guards and ignores DedSec's suggestion to hide until they leave, incapacitating them instead. Wishing to find Sei as quickly as possible, Noa is able to locate the laboratory where the doctor is being held based on DedSec's directions, but two guards block his path. Fortunately, one of his Assassin allies drops from the vent above and subdues them.
As Noa asks what took him so long to arrive, the Assassin responds that he did not have the luxury of flying in through the roof. He then hands Noa the Pivot Blade once wielded by his ancestor Ratonhnhaké:ton, telling him that it's up to him to finish this, one way or another. With the blade in-hand, Noa barges into the laboratory and threatens the sole scientist inside to shut down the Animus. The terrified scientist complies and Noa rushes to check on Sei, only for her to mistake him for Edward Kenway.

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Noa's mission gear includes a pair of night-vision goggles resembling the Multi-Vision Goggles worn by Splinter Cell protagonist Sam Fisher.
Prior to gliding towards the Research Lab, Noa remarks that he once watched a movie about a "billionaire dressed like a bat" who performed a similar stunt in Hong Kong. This is a reference to the 2008 film The Dark Knight, which features a scene of Batman traveling to Hong Kong to apprehend corrupt businessman Lau.
