Glénat Editions
Glénat Editions is a French publishing company that focuses on comics, manga and bandes dessinées. Their catalogue includes works originally in English, Italian and Japanese for franchises such as Deus Ex, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill and Assassin's Creed.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
On 26 November 2020, Glénat released a webcomic titled Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, written by Mathieu Gabella with art by Paolo Traisci and colors by Fabien Alquier.[2] It served as a tie-in to the video game of the same name, and followed the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan as she raided a monastery.
In April 2021, a new graphic novel by the same creative team was announced alongside eight other future Assassin's Creed projects. Game Informer reported that the comic would feature original characters and a new location to explore, Scotland.[3] The graphic novel, titled Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – The Hidden Codex, would be released in France on 25 January 2023,[4] later receiving an English translation by Dark Horse Books, which was released on 30 April 2024.[5]
