Plot summary[edit | edit source]
Edward Kenway and John Young talk about Madam Lee being in possession of Hendrik's sea log, with the latter suggesting that the journal is kept at Lee's private residence, the Mandarin's House, along with her other valuable belongings. Edward asks John to drop him off close and states that he will infiltrate Lee's residence alone. The pair sail to Macau, and Edward stealthily makes his way back into the city.
After climbing to the top of the Church of Saint Lawrence to survey the area, Edward locates the Mandarin's House and proceeds to approach the complex, which is heavily guarded. Blending into the passing crowd, Edward finds a lone guard and knocks him out without anyone noticing. Instantly, he climbs onto the residence's roof and finds more guards. Running and hiding from them, Edward spots a doorway leading inside the house. Two guards block his path, so he distracts them with a coin and then incapacitates them from behind.
Entering Lee's room, Edward inspects the space and finds a hidden button shaped like a flower pot. He finds Hendrik's sea log but is caught by Madam Lee herself, who reveals her knowledge of both the Assassins and Edward's identity. Having two guards hold Edward at gunpoint, Lee invites him to sit down for tea and talk. However, they are interrupted by an attack by Shimazu clan ninja, who killed Lee's guards outside.
In the present, Shimazu Sei warns Noa Kim of the memory running into Edward's infiltration skills, telling him that full synchronization would require Edward not killing anyone during his break-in. In response, Noa makes fun of Sei's earlier remarks about the Assassins being ruthless criminals.
