- Mikawa, 1562
While the siege continued, Sena sees Hattori Hanzō above her, surprising Paulino Massa. While Hanzō checks on Sena, Massa pulls out his pistol and aims it at the shinobi. Instantly, Hanzō reacts and stabs Massa in the heart with his hidden blade. Bleeding out, Massa falls onto the floor and speaks of his surprise of not being able to control Hanzō. Hanzō replies that his plans with Sena was never going to happen. Massa states that Hanzō is a result of doing his duty despite of the love aspect before dying. With the fires coming close to the watchtower, he escorts Sena quickly away from the siege.
Moments later, Hanzō reunites Sena with her husband Matsudaira Takechiyo and her children Nobuyasu and Kamehime. The next day, Takechiyo meets with Hanzō and Watanabe Moritsuna about the events earlier. Takechiyo first thanks Hanzō for saving his family, looking upon the former Imagawa guard Amano Kageyasu play with Nobuyasu. While Moritsuna feels pushed aside, Takechiyo inquires on how Hanzō was able to save Sena. Hanzō reveals that he came upon two guards, one happening to be the son of Udono Nagateru. The guard had yelled out how he planned to avenge his father against his killers but Hanzō exclaimed the Templars were responsible and how they had no part of it. However, he also gave no stop and encouraged them to fight if they wished it. However, the guards backed down while Hanzō continued with his mission.
Hanzō recounts that without the initial help from Moritsuna and Kageyasu, none of this would have been possible. Takechiyo thanks him for his mission and for honoring his family's alliance with his clan. When he offers Hanzō a position along with Moritsuna, Hanzō responds that while he is grateful, he has unfinished business in Iga and plans to follow it through ultimately. Departing, Hanzō bids farewell to Takechiyo's family and heads for Iga.
