The Great Wall
"The Great Wall" is the sixteenth chapter of the manga Assassin's Creed: Blade of Shao Jun written by Minoji Kurata.
Summary[edit | edit source]
Doctor Kaori Kagami holds Kō Risa at gunpoint and recounts her time at the Madrid facility and how a riot had broken out before she could investigate Shao Jun's memories further. The doors open and guards begin to force Risa back into the Animus.
Shao Jun sits alone and tends to her equipment until Xiao Hu attacks from above. Shao Jun easily counters his attack and offers some constructive criticism on his technique. Meanwhile, both she and her apprentice talk about how the Mongols, led by Altan Khan, are amassing an army to attack the Great Wall. Shao Jun believes that the Mongols would not be so bold as to raid the Great Wall unless they were confident about victory, and suspects that a mole is helping them. Surmising the Mongols' attack to be imminent, the two Assassins leave for the Great Wall.

A guard tells his patrol partner to make a report while he takes a note from an arrow loosed at the wall. However, Shao Jun stabs the guard and reads the note along with Xiao Hu. They learn that the Mongols and Zhang Yong have become allies and that Zhang Yong offered Altan Khan access to China, betraying his own country out of desperation to maintain his grip on power.
Both Xiao Hu and Shao Jun notice the Mongols incoming and the gates below to be open. A guard also sees the open gates and is taken hostage by Zhang Yong's men. Fortunately, Shao Jun dispatches both of Zhang Yong's guards and tells the Wall guard to close the gate. Moving to the next gate, she notices Zhang Yong waiting atop the tower.
