Summary[edit | edit source]
- 1563, Iga
Out on a cliff, Fujibayashi Masayasu questions Hattori Hanzō on why he wants to duel. Hanzō wants to prove himself to be better and will not be lesser of Masayasu's standing. Tossing him a spare katana, Hanzō immediately attacks Masayasu, who does not unsheathe his katana but dodges and parries his attacks. While Hanzō keeps on trying to kill him, Masayasu finds a moment and disarms him, pleading for him to stop and look towards their future. Enraged, Hanzō tosses him to the ground and begins to pummel his face. After a moment, a worn Masayasu says he wants to work as brothers for this future and to never leave him behind.
While Hanzō stops for an instance, Tsuyu walks towards them and pleads Hanzō to stop. While Hanzō tells her to back away, Tsuyu reveals that she is pregnant and Masayasu is the father. In a moment of clarity, Hanzō stops his attacks and states that he will be leaving them. When Masayasu tries to ask why, Hanzō declares that he is leaving Iga behind for good before walking away in tears. Almost about to leave, Momochi Sandayu holds his katana towards Hanzō and demands him to try to leave. Hanzō faces his master, who sees his tears and recalls the moment Hanzō joined him, only for the young Hanzō to cry for home and his mother. Knowing he cannot stop him, Sandayu lets Hanzō leave.
- 1569, Iga
After Hanzō had left Iga, he had been working under Matsudaira Motoyasu and earned the moniker, "Oni Hanzō." Elsewhere, at her home, Tsuyu begins to leave before her daughter Naoe calls out for her.
