Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 31 is the thirtieth episode of Redice Studio's webtoon Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple, a sequel to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The webtoon, written by ARC and SHYATAN and with art by Tabii, was released on 21 November 2023.
Plot synopsis
Edward Kenway faces off against Master Sun, who explains that Hendrik's sea log is his property, and his security detail. Realizing Master Sun's influence and his alliance with the mixed-blood ninjas, Edward watches Sun's men points their firearms at him and the other faction's ninja. However, Madam Lee comes with her own men while one of her men kicks a cart to its destruction as a show of power. She states that Sun's influence is at end while threatening Kenway to stay out of their business. While a showdown between Master Sun and Madam Lee is about to commence, Jan van Aert comes with his men to break up the commotion. Siding with van Aert, Edward showcases his alliance with the Dutch East India Company while the other leaders scoul. Madam Lee's right-hand ninja states that a three-way match will not work out and how he has a plan to deal with them in motion. Immediately, Madam Lee and her men retreat while Master Sun follows in his own direction.
Kenway thanks van Aert for the assistance and later continues with his business with the Zhang Wei Union. However, he feels a presence in a dark alley nearby and investigates the matter. There, he sees a group of ninja, who are allied with Madam Lee. Their leader announces himself to be Fuma Sukuna, a leader of the ninja of the Shimazu clan, and asks Edward to assassinate a target: Shimazu Saito. Meanwhile, Master Sun talks with Saito about their deal and how they are his faithful servants after saving them. However, Saito knows that this veiled alliance is another means of power for him but bides her time for her men. Sun later states that with the sea log, he has ordered people to come to decipher it. With them, they near closer to finding the treasure.
At the union's headquarters, Edward tells Zhang and John Young how he accepted Sukuna's contract due to the fact the ninja cannot get too close to Saito without raising suspicion. He continues to explain that he needs the sea log from Saito and how she is currently protecting Master Sun aboard his floating gambling hall on the sea. While the boat is docked, Master Sun will be there, and so will Saito. He states that Sukuna's forces will be there to aid him in his mission. Meanwhile, he asks Young and Zhang for their help, to which they accept. Edward soon asks Zhang about their new ship while Zhang responds that Yun oversees the armaments of the ship. Edward asks Zhang what they named the ship, to which he replies it is named Fenghuang, the Chinese word for phoenix.
Visiting Yun, Edward asks how progress is going. Yun excitingly tells him that all repairs are done, how he has made modifications to their artillery, and how he added that the ship is now equipped with volley guns. While Edward states that this workload is a lot, Yun replies that is nothing in comparison to his old job. Yun also surprises Edward with a gift and showcases an innovation with his hidden blade. Along with the usual blade, Yun explains an inclusion of a button, which adds a crossbow element to the blade. Kenway thanks Yun for his gift before leaving for his mission. At night, he rides alone on a rowboat to Master Sun's gambling hall.
