Plot synopsis
Edward Kenway orders his allies to prepare the Fenghuang for departure while he will try to stop the Chinese Assassins from acquiring the crescent amulet. Even after experiencing a vision showing his death at Xiao Han's hands, Edward does not back down and vows to retrieve the amulet if it's the last thing he does. As Edward runs off, John Young, refusing to let his friend risk his life, goes after him, despite his injury slowing him down. After several moments of hesitation, Xialun Qing also decides to follow John, much to the remaining Zhang Wei Union members' concern.
Meanwhile, as the Chinese Assassins approach the warehouse where the amulet is stored, Xiao Han orders Xue Yan to retrieve the artifact while he and Liu Qing battle the Suluese guards to clear her path. Xue Yan runs towards the warehouse but is stopped by Edward, who fires his pistol at her. Upon seeing Edward, Xiao Han engages him in a duel and both Assassins comment that they are growing weary of their repeated encounters.
At that moment, a cannonball hits and partially destroys the warehouse. The shot came from Zheng's ship, as the admiral has had enough of being treated like the Chinese Assassins' minion and decided to hinder their mission as payback. Undeterred, Xiao Han orders Xue Yan to find another way into the warehouse while he and Edward resume their duel. John comes to assist Edward but decides to retrieve the amulet instead so his friend can focus on dealing with the Chinese Assassins.
While looking for a way into the warehouse, Qing arrives to help John, despite the latter's insistence that she leave for her own safety. At that moment, Xue Yan tries to attack the couple but John fends her off. After Xue Yan warns them to stand aside, Qing notices a passage among the warehouse's debris leading into the building. She and her pet monkey Wukong enter it while Xue Yan spots another entry point and jumps on John's back to reach it. Moments later, the warehouse's roof collapses, leading a concerned John to cry out Qing's name.
