Plot summary
After killing Alan Jacob's men, Edward Kenway discovers "devil's powder" as the Far East Company's new product for Macau's merchants. Taking a sample, he returns with it to Madam Lee, who expresses interest in taking the product for herself. However, Edward forbids the drugs from being sold as they would be too harmful and destructive for the public. Instead, he plans to reveal the Far East Company's ties to the powder by having a massive spectacle in front of the public, one which even the Dutch East India Company will not be able to ignore. Although reluctant, Lee agrees with Edward's demand to refrain from selling the powder.
Later, Edward meets with John Young and begins his plan to out the Far East Company despite some misgivings about Lee's promise. That night, he tips off some drug addicts about the powder being stored aboard a Far East Company ship, allowing Edward to sneak onto the ship while the Dutch soldiers guarding it are distracted by the addicts demanding the powder. Meanwhile, John fires a cannonball at the docks, igniting several barrels of oil and setting the port on fire.
As the remaining Dutch soldiers are drawn to the fire, Edward makes his way inside the ship and finds more packages of the powder, which he drops onto the dock while declaring the Far East Company's culpability in drug trafficking. He is spotted by several Dutch soldiers, but they are distracted by the addicts rushing to get their hands on the powder, allowing Edward to escape amidst the commotion.
At her house, Lee waits in her bed until one of her men informs her about the spectacle at the docks. She then instructs him to salvage any legitimate product they can collect.
