Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 53 is the fifty-third episode of Redice Studio's webtoon Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple, a sequel to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The webtoon, written by ARC and NOHT and with art by Tabii, was released on 23 April 2024.
Plot synopsis
The Visayan warriors board a ship and kill all the Spanish soldiers aboard. When their leader asks for the whereabouts of the monk leading the Manila riot, one of the warriors informs him that the monk was last seen inciting the locals in the town square in front of the Manila Cathedral. Readying his kampilan, the chief declares to his men that they need to find the monk and recover his amulet.
Meanwhile, at the Manila harbor, the Zhang Wei Union members are fighting Spanish soldiers to gain access to a warehouse where the rest of their confiscated weapons are held. Amidst the fighting, Jan van Aert and his crew arrive at the harbor and proceed to board their ship, while thanking the Union members for their help and promising not to leave without them. After defeating the soldiers, the Union members raid the warehouse for any goods they can loot, and Yun Pyeong-Gyu is surprised to find barrels of petroleum, which he and John Young subsequently load onto the Fenghuang.
Elsewhere, Edward Kenway and Shimazu Saito are fighting the monks resurrected by the Crescent amulet, who appear to be immune to all of their attacks. Realizing that the monks are not immortal, only resistant to pain, the Assassin and samurai proceed to dismember them, preventing them from being resurrected. Furious, the monks' leader orders the last of his acolytes to kill Edward and Saito, but they too met their end at their blades.
As Edward and Saito confront the monk and demand the amulet, the latter appears to comply. However, he then activates the artifact in an attempt to mind-control them. While Edward is able to look away in time, Saito falls under the amulet's influence and experiences a vision of her deceased friends as Edward desperately tries to awaken her from her trance.
