Plot synopsis[edit | edit source]
Fuma Sukuna angrily confronts Nagamasa and his men for betraying him, asking if this is their way of repaying the Shimazu clan's generosity. Nagamasa retorts that Sukuna treated them as nothing but mongrels and declares that he will happily die fighting alongside equals instead of serving any master. Sukuna draws his sword and vows that none of them will leave the island alive, but just then, Yun Pyeong-Gyu and the other Zhang Wei Union members arrive, carrying a barely-conscious Edward Kenway. Spotting the enemy reinforcements, Sukuna and his ninja decide to retreat and regroup with the Rattan Shield Company.
After Yun informs Shimazu Saito of Edward's condition, the Assassin, having witnessed a vision of the future, tries to warn Saito not to fight the Rattan Shield Company, as doing so will result in her death. Saito dismisses Edward's ramblings and decides to face the shieldmen anyway, though she devises a plan to turn the tide of the battle in their favor.
When the Company arrives and engages the group, Saito orders her allies to hold off the enemy troops for as long as possible. Just as the Union members and Nagamasa's mercenaries appear to be overwhelmed, Saito instructs everyone to take a step back, causing the shieldmen to stumble and fall when they try to charge at them. The Union members take advantage of this to retreat and put as much distance between themselves and the shieldmen as possible, holding them at bay with their long-range weapons.
The Company's captain furiously orders Sukuna and his ninja to intervene but they refuse, instead waiting for the shieldmen to tire the enemy out. Once the Union members run out of ammunition, Sukuna decides to make his move and tells his men to attack. However, they end up falling into Saito's trap, as her allies unleash their newly-built Greek fire flamethrowers, creating a wall of fire around them and the ninja. With no way of escape, Saito mockingly asks a shocked Sukuna who he expects to walk out of the battle alive.
