Plot summary
With the help of John Young and pirate captain Rupiya, Edward Kenway has the ship destroyed and jumps into the water before the explosion hits him. Meanwhile, Madam Lee curses out Edward's name for destroying the ship and the opium inside. John helps Edward aboard his ship and they escape the Dutch East India Company's line of sight. Later, back in Zhang's village, Edward and John decide that, with their partnership with Madam Lee over, they will have to build their own organization that will allow them to do business with other factions discreetly and will bring together the people of the slums.
In the present, after completing this memory, Noa Kim begins to have his adrenaline levels spike. Dr. Shimazu Sei demands that he be removed from the Animus and taken to rest. While two guards grab Noa, he hallucinates them to be ninja and attacks them. Knocking them out, Noa is surrounded by more guards but is saved by Sei, who states he is back asleep. Noa is brought back to his room and awakes to find the doctor at his bedside, but hallucinates her to be Shimazu Saito. While Sei tells Noa about the Bleeding Effect, he makes a remark about being as strong as his ancestor.
However, Sei vehemently responds that the Bleeding Effect makes subjects lose their minds and how his and his ancestors' memories may mold into one. She states she will not let that happen until Abstergo has obtained the information they are looking for. Noa states that he sees how much she cares and infers her family may be in trouble. Realizing how much she needs him, Noa states that their deal is still intact but that he wants to go Macau right now. Sei objects, but after Noa claims to know where Edward went, the doctor agrees to his request.
