Plot synopsis

Plunged into a strange world by the amulet's power, Edward experiences a vision of him walking in a room filled with tomes. One golden one hits his head and opens up into glimpses of Adam and Eve and pictures of past and future Assassins. While his head begins to ache, he soon finds a memory of Hendrik talking with the mad monk and how they hid a clue into a grand wooden cross. Soon, the tomes rise and begin to fly and impact him. In reality, Edward is paralyzed by the amulet while the monk elates at the static Edward. Readying to kill him, the mad monk is struck by a spear thrown by the leader of the Visayan resistance.

Bleeding out and calling his attackers barbarians, the mad monk is tortured by the leader, who promised to retake the amulet for his people and to end the occupation of the travelers over his people. Slashing the monk's chest and killing him, the leader proclaims victory to Lapu-Lapu while Edward regains his consciousness back. Disoriented, Edward claims the amulet has no business with him while the leader warns him to leave and offers to spare him. Edward engages the leader in a fight but the leader pushes him back and states that he knows that he is a Hidden One. Edward tries to persuade him that his usage of the amulet will make him a slave to it but the man rebuffs him and states that he will kill Edward if he continues to stand in his way.

Elsewhere, Shimazu Saito finally regains consciousness and notices battalions of Spanish soldiers marching in response to the riot earlier. Traveling by rooftops, she leaves to go to the boat to escape. However, she notices Edward fighting the resistance warriors and cornered by the leader. Before the leader can land a blow, Saito comes by and saves Edward. Dropping smoke bombs, Saito tells Edward to leave. Although Edward states the amulet is with the leader, Saito explains Spanish troops are coming and that his crew needs him more than his quest with the amulet.

In the present, Noa begins to experience a simulation error within the Animus and his heart rate starts to drop. His doctors begin to see a plummet in his health and synchronization and inform Dr. Shimazu Sei of Noa's condition. Shocked, Dr. Sei yells out for Noa to snap out while Noa remains motionless and sweating.
