Plot synopsis[edit | edit source]
While Edward Kenway and Xiao Han fight, John Young digs desperately through the warehouse's debris in search of Xialun Qing. Liu Qing suddenly arrives behind John and prepares to strike him with his guandao. Meanwhile, inside the demolished warehouse, Xue Yan leaps down and attacks Qing, but stops when the latter reveals that she is just a doctor. Although commending Qing's courage for risking her life like this, Xue Yan warns the doctor to stay out of her way.
Just then, more rubble begins to fall and Qing runs through an open door, moments before the falling debris blocks the path, separating her from Xue Yan. Qing finds herself in front of the chamber housing the crescent amulet, but the door is locked. Fortunately, her pet monkey Wukong is able to find the key on one of the dead guards' bodies and brings it to her.
After retrieving the amulet's chest, Qing begins crawling through a small corridor leading outside. Exhausted and scared, she stops halfway through but quickly pulls herself together, telling herself that, once she brings the amulet to Edward and John, she will be back aboard the Fenghuang with all of her friends. Once safely out of the warehouse, Qing sees Edward and John fighting against Xiao Han and Liu Qing, respectively, and prepares to join them, only to be suddenly grabbed from behind by Xue Yan.
With Xue Yan holding Qing hostage, the Chinese Assassins attempt to strike a deal with Edward, promising to release the doctor if he allows them to leave with the amulet and stops interfering with their cause. While Xue Yan feels uncomfortable about using Qing's life as a bargaining chip, Zheng observes the exchange from her ship with a spyglass. Disappointed by the Chinese Assassins' decision to attempt to peacefully negotiate with their enemies, the admiral orders her men to open fire on both groups.
As cannonballs strike the beach, Xue Yan drops the amulet's chest and the artifact falls out. In the confusion, John decides to rescue Qing and tells Edward to retrieve the amulet. As the latter runs towards the artifact, Xiao Han attempts to stop him and launches a rope dart at him, which appears to strike Edward.
