The Seed of Travi was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Basim Ibn Ishaq in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5, in which a vision of one of Odin's memories could be seen.
Description[edit | edit source]
Havi heard a dwarf in need of help.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Havi heard a dwarf in peril.
- Linco: I am fortune's fool! The one weapon that can fell a Muspel in a single blow, just out of my reach! If only a champion, a hero of great magnitude, would heed my call! And claim my weapon as their own!
Havi spoke to the dwarf.
- Havi: What ails you, little one?
- Linco: By the might of Ymir! You are Havi of Asgard, yes? I had heard you were afoot, but never expected to lay eyes upon you! It's my hammer! A mighty hammer, strong enough to tear a mountain in two. And by sheer accident, I tripped, and threw it out there. If you can retrieve it, then you may keep it, Havi.
- Havi: A weapon of such strength cannot be ignored. Very well. I shall get it.
Havi ventured past the lava surrounding and retrieved the hammer. Havi came back to Linco and spoke with him.
- Havi: It is done. A trivial matter for the High One.
- Linco: Yes, I can see the lava was no problem for you. But... Oh no! The hammer! It is damaged.
- Havi: Damaged!
- Linco: Yes, look closely... This crack in the shaft...
Havi turned around as Linco turned into his jötunn form.
- Linco: You have passed the trial, High One.
- Havi: Trial? What trial?
Linco punched Havi, knocking him out. Havi later woke up in a prison cell in Feigardr.
- Havi: Ugh, my head... What the Hel...?
Havi looked over the cell and heard a fellow prisoner.
- Mikke: Oi. You. Come here, quick. Pssst! Hey! You there, Æsir! Don't draw attention, just get over here, before it's too late.
Havi spoke with his fellow prisoner.
- Mikke: Right, we've only got one shot at this, so listen, and listen good.
- Havi: What are you jabbering about? Who are you? What's happening?
- Mikke: Unless you want me to tell this Muspel who you really are, and while you're still helpless, I suggest you do as I tell you, and quickly!
- Havi: Helpless?! You dare to threaten me?! I'll throttle you through these bars!
- Muspel Warrior 1: Shut up or I'll shut you up!
- Mikke: There's no time to explain. I'll lure the guard, you grab his key. Get us out of here and I'll explain everything. Ready?
- Havi: What?
Mikke left and lured the Muspel guard.
- Mikke: Hey you! Yeah you! Come here! I got some information your chief is gonna want!
- Muspel Warrior 1: Go on then, enlighten me. What drivel will you spout this time?
- Mikke: Your mother spotted by last night, paid me a visit.
- Muspel Warrior 1: She died years ago, fool.
- Mikke: Yeah, well, uh...
- Muspel Warrior 1: You idiot...
- Mikke: Idiot, am I? Surtr's your overlord, yeah? Reckon he might want to find the High One of Asgard?
- Muspel Warrior 1: Hah! The shit that comes out of your mouth.
- Mikke: What if I told you that Havi is a lot closer than you think?
- Muspel Warrior 1: I'd tell you your execution is a lot closer than you think.
- Mikke: I know where Havi is right now. Just come in here and I'll whisper it in your ear.
- Muspel Warrior 1: The way you smell, I'm fine staying out here. You have something to say, then say it.
- Mikke: I'm serious. Me and Havi, we're old pals. Go back years, we do.
- Muspel Warrior 1: Every day. Every day I am forced to endure you and your horseshit. I honestly wish someone would put me out of my misery.
- Mikke: Heh. Be careful what you wish for.
The guard left Mikke alone. Havi stole the key from him, then beat him unconscious before checking on Mikke.
- Mikke: Now then, get your things so we can leave. You'll catch a chill if you head out dressed like that. I mean, eventually. We haven't got time for funny-business. Grab your things, eh?
Havi found his armor and weapons, and heard Mikke calling for him.
- Mikke: You'll get nowhere without me! Let me out! Hey! Don't just leave me here!
Havi unlocked Mikke's cell. Mikke exited it and promptly sat on the floor.
- Havi: Get up. We're leaving.
- Mikke: Only if you promise to get me out. No matter what. I stay here, I'm dead.
- Havi: Tell me what's going on or I'll kill you myself.
- Mikke: The Muspels took me prisoner. Threw me in here. Now, on the other side of that opening is a hall full of lava. I can't get out, not on my own. But if you're in here with me... lava's not a problem for you. Not according to our mutual acquaintance.
- Havi: The Jotun shapeshifter? The one who tricked me, told me of a hammer that could split mountains?
- Mikke: Ah, that old chestnut! Look, you want the real hammer, pick me up, get me through the tunnel.
- Havi: Fine.
Havi picked up and carried Mikke. As he unlocked the door, Havi used the Hugr-Rip and activated the Power of Muspelheim to safely tread over the lava.
- Mikke: Yah! Ooh! Hot hot hot hot!
- Havi: Shut up, or I'll drop you into it.
- Mikke: Just, hurry up! Agh!
Havi carried Mikke outside to the waters, where a boat awaited them. Havi placed Mikke on the ground.
- Mikke: Come, High One. Time to go.
Havi and Mikke boarded the rowboat and Mikke began to row.
- Mikke: (deep breath) Smell that, High One? The sweet aroma of freedom. And we have you to thank for it.
- Havi: What was your crime?
- Mikke: Other than being a dwarf and fighting invaders?
- Havi: Fighting invaders?
- Mikke: I'm a blacksmith by trade... Just before the invasion of our lands began, I single-handedly armed an army. Bravest dwarves you ever saw. Clans dropping long-held grudges, joining to fight Muspels and the Jotnar. Anyway, all came to nothing in the end. I was locked up. Told they'd let me out if I made weapons for the Muspels... told them I'd sooner die. Now, about that hammer...
- Havi: I know. Nothing more than a tall tale. And not a bad one.
- Mikke: You did all this, knowing there was no mighty weapon? I see now why they call you the High One.
Mikke rowed him and Havi to a shore, where Linco awaited them.
- Linco: Haha! There he is! Safe at last, brother! I told you I would find someone who could help.
- Mikke: Never thought I'd be so happy to lay eyes on that big ugly face of yours. You did well, brother.
- Linco: Ugly! Hah! Have you looked in the mirror lately? Father should've dropped you from the cliffs the moment your tiny screwed-up face drew breath! It's good to see you.
- Havi: Well well, the Jotun who managed to fool me. And you're brothers?
- Linco: Aye, brothers from another mother. Our father was Travi, the famed dwarven explorer who travelled the Nine Realms.
- Mikke: Travi and my mother are dwarves. My half-brother here is half-dwarf, half-Jotun. We have a sister who is half dwarf, half Muspel.
- Linco: And another brother that is... well... half-bear, but that's another story.
- Havi: I see. Your father Travi was... very well-traveled.
- Mikke: He kept himself busy, that's for sure.
- Linco: You have our gratitude, High One. We shall drink to your honor for all time!
- Havi: Enjoy your freedom, and stay out of trouble, lads.
Havi left the brothers on their way.
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Havi saved a dwarf and reunited him with his half brother.
