Eivor the Sheepdog was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.[1]

Eivor heard a man calling his sheep Fenton and decided to investigate.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Eivor heard a man calling out for someone called Fenton.
- Anglo-Saxon Man: Fenton! Fenton! Jesus Christ! Fenton! There are wolves in that forest! Come here, your cursed sheep! You'll make yourself a wolves' dinner.
I'm calling you! Fenton! Here boy!
Eivor approached closer.
- Anglo-Saxon Man: Fenton! I'm not following you into that forest, you woolly sack of mange!
Fenton? Fenton...! Jesus Christ! Fenton...!
Will anyone help? I think he went off to the north somewhere.
Eivor went into the forest and heard a sheep braying.
- Eivor: That sounds like a sheep, and not a happy one.
She found a sheep atop a rock, surrounded by a pack of wolves.
- Eivor: That sheep will be torn apart if I do not do something.
Eivor killed the wolves and approached the sheep.
- Eivor: Is this sheep lost? I wonder if it belongs to someone nearby.
- Eivor: Will it follow if I whistle?
She gave it a try and the sheep walked over to Eivor.
- Eivor: It works! The sheep follows my whistle.
Eivor led it down from the rock.
- Eivor: Keep up, will you?
Eivor led it back through the woods.
- Eivor: Come on, let's get you home. You do want to be home, don't you?
Eivor led the sheep up the hill to its owner.
- Eivor: Lucky I came along when I did. I don't much like wolves, either.
They reached the shepherd.
- Anglo-Saxon Man: There you are, Fenton! You've escaped for the last time, you walking mutton chop!
The man stood beside the sheep and gripped it by the neck.
- Anglo-Saxon Man: Hold still, you woolly git!
The man butchered the sheep.
- Eivor: I went through all that just so you could kill that poor beast?
- Anglo-Saxon Man: A man like me can ill afford to slaughter a sheep for vittles, but the ealdorman demanded it, and I must obey.
The man leaned in to talk more closely.
- Anglo-Saxon Man: Between you and me, I've been dying to murder this bastard for ages. Fenton was a royal pain in my arse. Still, you did me a good turn, stranger. Take some meat for your help. The ealdorman won't miss it.
- Eivor: It's mutton stew for me tonight. Farewell.
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Eivor rescued a farmer's loose sheep from a wolf pack, only for the man to butcher it for meat upon her return.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The dog breed in the memory's title and the farmer's initial lines are references to a YouTube video in which a man visiting London's Richmond Park chases after his loose sheepdog Fenton, who ignores his exasperated calls to return and instead chases a herd of deer across a road.[2] In both the video and Eivor's memory, the animal owner's opening lines are "Fenton! Fenton! Jesus Christ! Fenton!"[3]
