Randvi:Did you... did you find what you were looking for?
Sigurd:We did, we did. But it was not for us.
Randvi stared at the two, uncomprehending the sudden change from when the siblings had left.
Randvi:What is this?
Eivor:I, ah...
Sigurd nodded to Randvi as he let Eivor lead.
Tove:Eivor! You've returned. Is... is Sigurd with you?
Eivor:No... not for now, Tove.
Tove nodded as Eivor left, moving forward. Eivor came into her longhouse and noticed a feast that has been done. She looked at the jarl's chair and walked forward, but remorsefully sat on the ground beside it.
Randvi:Eivor, is that you?
Eivor:It is.
Randvi:Is Sigurd not with you?
Eivor:He stayed behind. To begin anew.
Randvi nodded.
Randvi:Stand up.
Eivor:What?
Randvi:Stand. This seat is yours.
Eivor stood and then sat in the chair.
Randvi:It suits you.
Tove:Eivor's returned! Inside, at the hearth! Come!
Tove entered as more of Ravensthorpe's residents followed.
Randvi:Your secret is no longer safe.
Gudmund:Eivor? Randvi? What is this? Is everything all right?
Randvi:Our jarlskona has returned to lead us forward into an uncertain future. Will you speak to your people?
Eivor:For love and joy, words can jade. Our souls must sound in a heartful song. And when... no, no...
Eivor stood up to speak earnestly to her people.
Eivor:You are less mine than I am yours. And I ask of you only this, keep me honest in the times to come.
Eivor embracing and celebrating with her members
Her people looked around as Bragi came forward and began to sing a skaldic verse. Everyone started to beat their chests in tune as Eivor rejoiced with her people.
Bragi:Hearken well, in hall of kings On ocean-steed my words gain wings.
Group:Odin's mead, I forth will bring, For noble deeds, thine honor sing. We beat and blazed our trail of red Till Odin gazed Upon the dead Then horns resounds the mighty hall. For those who fight For those who fall. For those who fight and those who fall. Then horns resounds the mighty hall. For we who fight For we who fall.
After a night of celebration, Eivor woke up in her bed to start a new day.
Eivor learning of Sigurd and Randvi's separation
She found Sigurd waiting to speak with her outside the room containing the Alliance Map.
Eivor:Sigurd...
Sigurd:Eivor. Before you say more, I must tell you something. Randvi and I have... have ended our marriage.
Eivor:I am sorry to hear that.
Sigurd:Ah, do not be. We adore one another dearly, but our marriage was not built on love. We were brought together as an act of peace. I was pledged to her well before I knew her. And though we have tried to settle our differences and find love in our faults... it has not worked out. And so we have dissolved our bond. Yet as a clan, we will grow together.
Eivor:Then I'm glad for you both. And for the rest of us. This place would not be the same without you two.
Sigurd took his leave and Eivor entered the map room.
She left her room and made for the dock, where she unmoored her longship and set sail to Norway, wanting to see how Sigurd fared. In time, she arrived back in Fornburg, and after docking her ship, found Sigurd sitting in the jarl's seat in the longhouse.
Eivor:So this is what you chose?
Sigurd:Did I choose this? Or was it thrust upon me? I find it difficult to see the difference sometimes.
Eivor:It may be a little of both.
Sigurd:Time will tell. And one day, sooner or in the far future, I may return to England to witness what you have made.
Eivor:I hope you will. And I hope you will see that I have not led us astray.
Sigurd:May we endure this pain until our hearts guide us back to each other again.
Eivor:Farewell, brother.
Having made peace with Sigurd, Eivor sailed back to England.
Out in the village, Gunnar in particular voiced his pleasure at Eivor becoming the new jarlskona.
Gunnar:Between you and me, Eivor? Always knew you'd be a good jarl.
Although this memory plays out entirely in the form of a cutscene, it has the same effects on Ravensthorpe as 'Of All That Has Passed...' and similar memories that place Ravensthorpe in a different "state" from its default. Upon exiting this state and returning to normal, any incomplete Ravensthorpe memories such as 'A Distorted Dream' will reset and re-add to the quest log, with Eivor's dialogue to initiate those memories replaying.
