Love Conquers was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Basim ibn Ishaq in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5, in which a vision of one of Odin's memories could be seen.
Description[edit | edit source]
Havi overheard a female Jotun warrior talking to herself.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
After discovering the Jordeygr Shelter, Havi investigated the surrounding forest and found a small cave tucked in a stone hollow in the earth. Inside were the bedrolls of a campsite, framed with flower petals and candles.
- Havi: This looks like a bird's nest.
Havi found a letter.
Love Letter to Svass
- Dearest Svass,
I need to know that your love for me is as real as mine for you.
To this end, I will seek you out tomorrow, no matter the risks.
Yours eternally,
Vaskr
Outside, Havi heard a Jotun off the path leading to the shelter.
- Vaskr: It... it can't end like this.
I don't care what anyone says...
If only I could talk to you, Svass...
Havi spoke with her.
- Havi: Is everything alright?
- Vaskr: I wish I knew, High One.
- Havi: You recognise me?
- Vaskr: Of course, but I have no quarrel with you. And even if I did, I have more pressing matters. I... I must get into the dwarves' shelter.
- Havi: You have a death wish?
- Vaskr: No, but if that's what it takes to be reunited with my love, it is a risk I must bear.
- Havi: They hold a Jotun captive?
- Vaskr: No. The one I love is... a dwarf, Svass. And, as strange as it might sound, I think he loves me. With everything happening in this crazed world, I know how important it is to hold on to things that are precious. Do you think you could help me? All I want is to speak to him, to know I'm not alone in feeling what I feel.
- Havi: Very well. But I cannot take you inside looking like this. Can you shapeshift?
Vaskr immediately shapeshifted into a white wolf.
- Vaskr: How's this?
- Havi: Had to be a wolf, didn't it?
- Vaskr: Come again?
- Havi: Just... stay by my side, and... don't eat anybody.
- Vaskr: I'm not an animal, you know.
They reached the slope leading down to the shelter.
- Vaskr: So... what's your plan?
- Havi: I don't know. And stop talking or you'll give us both away. Do you know the way to the dwarf you seek?
- Vaskr: I have his scent.
- Havi: Then lead the way, but stay by my side. Ah, there's a good girl.
- Vaskr: (growl)
Havi followed Vaskr towards the entrance of Jordeygr Shelter. Both of them were halted by a pair of dwarven sentries.
- Dwarven Fugitive 1: Whoa! Havi! Hold it there. You cannot bring that, that thing in here! It'll eat us whole!
- Havi: Be calm, friend. This is my pet. She won't harm a soul.
- Dwarven Fugitive 2: Your pet? We have heard tales of you hunting every last wolf out of Asgard.
- Havi: Well, don't believe everything you hear. Now, let us pass.
Vaskr ran into the shelter.
- Dwarven Fugitive 1: Where is your 'pet' going now?
- Havi: I'll go see.
Havi followed Vaskr, who ran and found Svass. Immediately, Vaskr returned to her true form as Svass noticed their presences.
- Svass: Vaskr? Have you lost your mind? You know what they'll do if they see you in here!
Svass and Vaskr held each other's hands.
- Vaskr: I couldn't wait another moment. And I had some help.
Svass turned to Havi.
- Svass: I can see. Thank you, High One.
- Havi: It was no bother. And I have done far more for love, believe me.
- Vaskr: So, am I mad? Or are you feeling this too?
- Svass: You're not mad. You're... amazing. I can't believe you'd risk your life for me.
- Vaskr: In a heartbeat.
Suddenly, a dwarf lookout gave a shout of fear.
- Dwarven Fugitive 3: Wolves! Help!
- Vaskr: We must help them! Come, High One!
Vaskr and Havi went to help the dwarves in trouble and fought the intruding wolves.
- Dwarven Fugitive 3: A Jotun! A Jotun got inside! Kill it!
- Havi: No! She fights the wolves! She is your ally!
Vaskr and Havi searched for any more wolves.
- Dwarven Fugitive 4: Find a happy place, find a happy place, find a happy place... Go find some other place, will you!
- Dwarven Fugitive 1: Get back! Get back!
Vaskr and Havi killed another wolf as they passed by dead dwarves, then ventured outside the shelter.
- Dwarven Fugitive 5: What the Hel is going on?!
- Havi: Just some wolves seeking death. Move aside!
Havi and Vaskr reached the outside and quickly killed all the wolves, then reconvened with Svass.
- Havi: You could have hidden, kept your identity secret... Twice you have now risked your life for love.
However, dwarves came and opposed Vaskr's presence.
- Dwarven Fugitive 6: The Jotun! She led the wolves to our door!
- Dwarven Fugitive 7: The Jotnar are our enemy!
- Havi: Silence! Are you simpletons, with minds locked by what you believe and blind to what you see?
- Svass: You all saw. Vaskr didn't hesitate to help. She was there... in a heartbeat. Accept her. Or she and I both leave.
- Vaskr: You mean it?
- Svass: Yes, I do. I would be a fool to let you slip through my fingers.
- Havi: Then my work here is done. Good luck, the pair of you. And to all of you.
Havi left Svass and Vaskr to continue their romance in peace.
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Havi and Vaskr saved the dwarves at Jordeygr Shelter from a wolf attack as Svass and Vaskr remained together among the dwarven fugitives.
