Aegir's Daughters was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Havi met with the Jötnar Daughters of Ægir in Aegir's Hall, who requested he drink with them.
Havi overheard some thralls complaining outside the meadhall.
- Thrall 1: They've been feasting for days in that hall. None for us lowly thralls, though.
- Thrall 2: The brewery's almost dry, and still they call for more in Aegir's hall.
- Thrall 3: Aegir's daughters haven's stopped reveling since he left.
Havi entered the Hall of Aegir. As he did, a small group of Jotnar women called out to him.
- Daughter of Aegir 1: A newcomer! Wet your throat with us, and be merry!
- Daughter of Aegir 2: Come drink with us, stranger!
- Daughter of Aegir 3: Over here! Pay respect to the mistresses of the feast.
Havi approached the three Jotnar women gathered in the center of the hall.
- Daughter of Aegir 2: Be welcome, Æsir. Our father's hall is a haven to all.
- Havi: I remember there was a cauldron here once, brought by Thor from Hymir's hall.
- Daughter of Aegir 1: A cauldron a mile deep. A mile of mead. I miss that cauldron.
- Daughter of Aegir 3: Father bet the cauldron on a foolish wager with Suttungr and lost. But we still have the ale from our brewery!
She handed Havi a mug of ale.
- Havi: Where is Aegir now?
- Daughter of Aegir 2: Gone to Utgard. He sent the cauldron to Suttungr, but it never got there. So he's gone to find out what's what. But enough of that. You are visitor to our great land, and we know its secrets. Ask of us your questions.
- Havi: I want to know the unknown. Where should I look?
- Daughter of Aegir 2: There is a broken tower near Utgard that was once a place of great magic. Perhaps there is still some to be found there.
- Daughter of Aegir 1: To magic! May we never be without it!
(Accept - "I'll drink to that.")
Havi drank from his mug of ale.
- Daughter of Aegir 2: Let us tell you more about our homeland!
- Havi: What animals will I find in the wild?
- Daughter of Aegir 1: I have heard tell of a great bear of stone and ice that lives by a frozen lake.
- Daughter of Aegir 2: Enough talk! Time for a drink!
(Accept - "With pleasure.")
Havi drank from his mug of ale.
- Daughter of Aegir 2: Let us tell you more about our homeland!
- Havi: Spin me a tale of tragedy.
- Daughter of Aegir 2: Once, Thor dashed the great serpent Jörmungandr against our shores. Many ships wrecked, many Jotnar drowned.
- Daughter of Aegir 1: Seek a lonely tree on the shore and walk beneath it. You will see. Now let us drink to the fallen.
(Accept - "Let's drink!")
Havi drank from his mug of ale.
(If "I should leave" is chosen at any point)
- Havi: My thanks for your hospitality. I must go.
- Havi left without drinking. Returning later, the daughters offered again to share their knowledge.
After having all his questions answered, Havi began to sway as he drank for a third time.
- Daughter of Aegir 2: You don't look well. Is our ale taking a toll on you?
Havi passed out.
Some time later, Havi woke up in the loft of the hall on some furs.
- Havi: Urgh! Tastes like a boar shat in my mouth. Where am I? I should... I should find out what I did while ale-addled. My mind is blank.
He examined some clothes nearby.
- Havi: Ripe with wine and vomit. These are thrall's clothes. Where did they come from?
Havi left the loft, climbing down a ladder to Aegir's main hall. On a bench at the back of the hall, he found a note.
Drunkenly Scrawled Note
- That Aesir is more unhinged than Father's old barn door! Not that my sisters and I need much encouragement to have fun, but I fear we may have gone a little far last night. The Ale Sea! The Flying Cart! Our visitor has a trickster's tongue and a mind for mischief, and we were along for the ride.
I wonder if they could be persuaded to stay awhile?
Havi left the building. He came upon a daughter of Aegir outside an opened cage with a wild boar roaming free.
- Daughter of Aegir 2: King Snortington demands tribute! Don't make us lock you up like we did your Aesir friend!
- Havi: King Snortington the boar... once a prisoner, now free... I think we even made up a song about it.
Following a trail of toppled carts and mead barrels, Havi came across a house and another Daughter of Aegir.
- Daughter of Aegir 3: Well, hello there. You turned out to have quite a head for heights.
Havi climbed to the roof of the house, finding an upturned cart with a broken cask there.
- Havi: I think I remember... being up high? How did we get the cart up there?
Continuing to follow the trail of destruction, Havi went to the brewery, finding some wrecked boats around a great barrel of ale.
- Daughter of Aegir 1: To the mighty reavers of the Ale Sea! The mice in the brewery still tell tales of last night's voyage.
Havi examined a broken boat within the barrel.
- Havi: Were we trying to sail somewhere? Across the Ale Sea to the land of... of... I can't recall it.
Havi chuckled.
- Havi: We made wild revels, it seems. But no harm done, except to my head. Aegir's daughters are hospitable indeed.
At the bottom of the barrel, Havi found the key to a chest within the hall.
Havi tried his best to recall what happened while drinking with Aegir's daughters.
The opening dialogue regarding Aegir and the cauldron's whereabouts remains the same even if Havi has completed A Feast to Remember and already knows where both are.
As with most "world event" memories, the ambient dialogue comments are pulled randomly from a pool of three for each speaking actor or group of actors. However, while the comments in other memories will usually cycle through by waiting in place long enough—the ones in Asgard firing very rapidly and sequentially compared to the game's other regions—in this memory's case the player must take a more deliberate stroll away from the drinking daughters and the envious thralls outside to cycle their remarks, or save and reload the file. In the latter case, some lines may simply be repeated.
The daughters of Aegir, lacking official names like many of the lesser NPCs in the game, are indicated on this page by "Daughter of Aegir" 1, 2, and 3. The order in which their remarks trigger may not reflect the numeric order listed on this page, as ambient dialogues fire at random. For the purposes of this page, 'Daughter of Aegir 1' is the largest of the three and has brown hair in a braided ponytail, 'Daughter of Aegir 2' is the tall one in the middle with a half-shaven head of red hair, and 'Daughter of Aegir 3' is the one with blonde hair in a ponytail who sits at the table initially. Their voice prints for the ambient remarks match each speaker during the closeup dialogue, and the numeric labeling given here is not indicative of anything critical to the memory itself. However, after waking up from drinking, the NPCs used to trigger the daughter's remarks outside may be very different from the three encountered at the hall. Those NPCs may still be in the hall or reveling on "King Snortington's" unlocked cage, but the commenters' voices will match the numbers listed on this page.
If players choose not to drink at any point, the scene essentially restarts when they return. Players must select a tale and drink a total of three times to advance to the next stage, thus it is possible to simply repeat the same tale multiple times and drink afterwards, skipping the others. Players can also drink twice, refuse the third time, then come back later to hear or rehear the tales, only taking the third drink when they are ready for the next stage.
Upon completing this memory, "King Snortington" the armored boar released from his cage will remain wandering outside the hall and may become hostile to the player upon unloading and reloading the area, becoming no different from any other armored boar enemy.
