A Cordial Invitation was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.[1]
Eivor encountered a raided caravan and a man looking at one of his fallen brothers.
Eivor came upon the site of an ambush.
He detected the presence of additional Picts.
Eivor and the soldier defended themselves against the Picts.
After the reinforcements had been dealt with, Eivor approached him.
Ryce began running across the bridge to his hideout. Eivor thought to herself.
Ryce entered the hideout and was greeted by his fellows.
He welcomed Eivor to the hideout.
She spoke to him near the stockpile of supplies.
Eivor eyed the donation box.
Eivor walked away from the box.
Eivor killed the attacking Picts, protecting Ryce. Later, she met with him again at his hideout in Sherwood Forest.
After players complete the memory, they have the option to make Eivor follow the man to his camp, where the memory "The Good Men of Sherwood" takes place. However, his dialogue at the hideout does not seem to be available if Eivor already completed the archery challenges (though she can shoot the target once to end the instructor's initial yelling of orders at the other men, since that loops and tends to overlap with Ryce's).
Ryce's green attire, his weaponry, and his mention of his "band of merry rogues" who are based in the woods and whose goal it is to rob from the rich to aid the poor all are allusions to the British folkloric hero Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men.
