Through her travels in Ireland, Eivor ventured and climbed atop of Downpatrick Head, northwest of Port Auley, in northwestern Connacht. A stranger caught sight of Eivor and talked to her, while burying past competitors.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:Have you been brought by Njord to send these sun-bleached bones to the bottom of the sea? Do you have the courage to face one thrice-cursed by fate?
Eivor spoke with Hogne.
Eivor:Salt-licked soldier, you've ... lived here for some time.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:I call to Njord, Lord of the Sea, till my throat bleeds with grief, but he only sends fish and other things to sustain me. And now you have come.
Eivor:Why do you complain to Njord like this? And what has it to do with me?
Hogne Sea-Tossed:I scorned the gods and pitched into the sea for my arrogance. Thorgest thought me dead and sailed off into legend.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:Send me down into Njord's cold embrace. I can't simply give myself to the waves. Will you give me an honorable death?
(Yes - I will fight you)
Eivor:You will sleep with sea-serpents this night.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:I will not make this easy. I must earn this death.
Both Eivor and Hogne walk to the middle of the land.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:I pledge this death to Njord.
Eivor:Your death.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:Whoever falls first.
Eivor started to fight against Hogne.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:You must cut deeper. I was Thorgest's strongest.
Eivor began to weaken Hogne amidst their battle.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:Ah, it is like when I fought at Thorgest's side.
Hogne began to become weaker as the fight continued.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:This is my day, do not let me down.
Eivor defeated Hogne and spoke with him one last time.
Hogne Sea-Tossed:At last. A fisher once told me I would find peace near the sea. Yet know, another sad survivor of Thorgest's crew still walks...
Hogne Sea-Tossed:I had a dream. I was in water ... Lough Neagh. I felt Thorgest there. With his prize...
Hogne succumbed to his wounds as Eivor sent him off to Valhalla. Eivor claimed the armor, Dublin Champion Breeches. Thus, Eivor traveled around Ireland and came across the area, Giant's Causeway, in northern Ulster. Eivor soon heard a woman shouting aloud within the area.
Blud the Giant:Dead! Dead! And dead! You can never eat too much death!
Eivor spoke with Blud.
Eivor:Stop, drengr. Have you lost your wits? Why berate a man long dead?
Blud the Giant:This soldier promised deathly peace. He claimed he'd bested foe after foe, each left more dead than the last.
Eivor:He is dead himself. You cannot kill him better.
Blud the Giant:I sailed with the mighty Thorgest! I deserve my place in the great hall! An honorable death is all I ask. Could you, stranger, could you give me a just fight and, at long last, release me from this cursed life?
(Yes - I will fight you)
Eivor:You have suffered mightily. You deserve a seat next to Odin.
Blud the Giant:Let it be so!
Both Eivor and Blud walked towards the middle of their area.
Blud the Giant:Come. One of us will find the great hall.
Eivor and Blud began to battle as Eivor gained an upper hand.
Blud the Giant:Much more promise than the others. You do not fight like a dolt.
Eivor and Blud continued to battle as Blud started to weaken more.
Blud the Giant:I begin to weaken, stranger. It is now that I am most dangerous!
Eivor was winning her match against Blud.
Blud the Giant:Valhalla calls. But I shall not die easily!
Eivor defeated Blud and spoke with her one last time.
Blud the Giant:You have released me, clever stranger. Another of Thorgest's crew, such as I, survives. I long to see him at Odin's feast.
Blud the Giant:Well done, stranger. I am the last and largest of Thorgest's drengir. He who lies at the bottom of Lough Neagh.
Blud succumbed to her wounds as Eivor sent her off to Valhalla. Eivor also reclaimed the torso, Dublin Champion Armor. Meanwhile, following the last drengir's last words, Eivor traveled and explored Lough Neagh. In the middle of the lough, Eivor found a small island and probed its surroundings. Eivor looked near its shore and swam underwater. Eivor found Thorgest's skeleton and claimed his shield.
Eivor:The mighty Thorgest. A fitting remembrance.
Outcome
Eivor defeated the last two drengr of Thorgest in battle. Upon the last battle, Eivor investigated Lough Neagh and discovered Thorgest's skeleton and reclaimed his shield.
Behind the scenes
You can start with either drengr to battle first as it doesn't change the outcome, but a slight variation with their last words, as noted.
