Beyond Fear was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Basim Ibn Ishaq in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description
Eivor went to meet Valka at a campfire, southeast of Ravensthorpe.
Dialogue
Eivor traveled to the campfire Valka had mentioned before.
- Eivor: This is the spot. Now I need only wait for Valka to arrive.
Eivor waited until nightfall, when Valka arrived and walked behind Eivor.
- Valka: I will tie your hands now.
Valka crouched down and bound Eivor's hands behind her back.
- Eivor: What purpose will that serve?
- Valka: You are too much the warrior, Eivor. You will not recognize your fear until you are helpless before it. Drink.
Valka tipped a bottle of potion into Eivor's mouth.
- Eivor: And you say this will bring the vision back?
Valka stood up and walked away without a word.
- Eivor: Is that all? You mean to leave me here?
Eivor struggled with the binds.
- Eivor: Valka, this is... W-why must I be tied?
Eivor soon heard a noise nearby.
- Eivor: Valka?
The potion made Eivor's vision blur and she began to hear more wolves.
- Eivor: Untie me! The wolf is coming and I... I cannot reach my weapon! Valka! Valka!
Eivor heard multiple growls as she saw a wolf approach her from the bushes. At that moment, her vision turned briefly white as the potion took full effect.
- Eivor: So many! Where did they come from? I have to break these bonds!
Eivor tried to break free.
- Eivor: The more I struggle, the tighter the bonds become!
Wolves began to surround Eivor.
- Eivor: There must be a trick to this. What did Valka say? Give in to it. Be still.
Eivor calmed herself and the bonds began to release.
- Eivor: It's working! The bonds are loosening!
Eivor's hands slipped through the bonds and she stood, drawing her weapon.
- Eivor: Free! Now for the reckoning!
Eivor attacked the wolves, each one disappearing after a blow.
- Eivor: They fade like a nightmare upon waking. What illusion is this?
Eivor screamed at the wolves.
- Eivor: Accursed phantoms! Come, then! You'll not find me lacking!
Eivor took down every wolf that came her way, but more came charging in still.
- Eivor: Gah! It's like fighting a river!
After a long onslaught of wolves, Eivor came across a familiar wolf, larger than the rest.
- Eivor: I know you, wolf. I saw you on the ice, the day my father died. But I am not a child any more.
Eivor fought against the wolf.
- Eivor: Curse you! Die!
Eivor began fighting more and more against the wolf.
- Eivor: No more will you stalk me!
Eivor fought the wolf into the break of dawn, at which the wolf vanished in a flash.
- Eivor: The wolf is gone... for now.
Eivor fell to her knees released of her fears and worries.
- Eivor: I am ready, Valka. It is time.
Eivor splayed out on her back, instantly passing out and returning to Svartalfheim within the realm of dreams.
Outcome
Eivor came to face her fears after drinking Valka's potion and fell back into the vision as Havi continuing his journey in Svartálfaheimr.
