Regardless of whether Aelfgar or Hunwald is chosen as ealdorman, their comments during the battle in which Hunwald bids the nobles to "defend your ealdorman" and Aelfgar yelling "hold steady, ealdorman" are the same. They are scripted in such a way that the game appears to assume that Hunwald was chosen as ealdorman, but this has no bearing on the player's actual choice.
Choosing Herefrith during this memory will "conclude" the Lincolnscire arc prematurely. It will take a full completion of an additional story arc—be it an arc required for the main story or a side arc such as the pledge to Vinland—before Herefrith's full allegiances are revealed and the arc reopens to proceed to the true ending memory, A Sword-Shower in Anecastre. Additionally, completing the Lincolnscire arc in this way, then proceeding immediately to pledge to Suthsexe, results in Hunwald not being present at all as an ally during the events of Storming the Walls, whereas he is always present if either he or Aelfgar is ealdorman. In effect, Hunwald is not flagged as available until after this arc has a proper conclusion, and choosing Herefrith merely "suspends" it while giving the appearance of being concluded.

Where the Stone Falls was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Eivor went to the Shiremoot in Lincoln, where a new ealdorman for Lincolnscire was chosen.
After completing her adventure with the second of Hunwald and Aelfgar, two of the candidates for ealdorman, Eivor decided to return to Lincoln for the shiremoot.
Upon her return to Lincoln, Eivor met with Abbess Acha in the city's market.

After agreeing to attend the shiremoot, Eivor went inside the town hall with Abbess Acha.
Acha thought for a moment before answering.

Acha walked off as Eivor pondered how to vote. Eivor talked to a sitting lord at a table to the left of the entrance.
Eivor spoke with a man adjacent to the wall, left of the entrance.

Eivor spoke with Grim, right of the entrance.
Eivor noticed a piece of paper on the table near Grim.
Shiremoot Invitation

Eivor spoke with each of the candidates, starting Aelfgar standing in the middle of the hall.
Eivor walked around the town hall and she heard Hunwald shouting.

Eivor spoke with Hunwald.
Eivor spoke with Bishop Herefrith, standing next to a sitting Acha.

Eivor went to the center table to decide her vote.
A ghostly Odin appears next to Eivor.
Odin left Eivor to her decision.

Eivor cast her stone and broke the tie. After she walked away, Acha approached the bowls and recounted all the votes, now including Eivor's.
Aelfgar stepped up on stage.

Hunwald stepped up on stage.
With the vote finished, a party ensued.

During Acha's speech, Eivor noticed an angry Herefrith walk to the door and tear off his crucifix.

Herefrith opened the hall's door and let Saxon soldiers enter the premise.
One Saxon soldier stabbed Ceolwulf's attendant as Eivor took out another Saxon soldier.
Saxons soldiers surrounded a group of citizens.

Herefrith sealed the door, barring any attempt to escape. Eivor and the nobles fought against Herefrith's guards as Herefrith was revealed to be The Crozier.
The guards' numbers started to dwindle against Eivor's strength and Lincoln's nobles steadfast defense.
The guards were all defeated.

Aelfgar and Eivor stood over the dead at their feet.
Hunwald sat down.
Aelfgar went to Hunwald.
Eivor looked over the dead at her feet as a fellow soldier came up to her.

Aelfgar and Hunwald left for battle as Eivor met with Acha at the hospice, who tended to the wounded.
Eivor left Acha and spoke to Earconbert as he tended to a fatally wounded man.
Eivor started out of the hospice towards the rally point for the fyrd, her business in Lincolnscire far from over.
Aelfgar, Herefrith, and Acha chatted, while Hunwald drank alone as Eivor came towards him.
After speaking with Hunwald, Eivor spoke to the bishop of an alliance.
Acha left the conversation as Eivor nodded at her.
Eivor shook the bishop's hand.
She looked over at Hunwald as he raised his mug to her in toast.
On her way out, Eivor could speak to Acha.
Eivor left to report the completion of her business in Lincolnscire to Randvi. In time, she would eventually return to Lincoln to check on the new ealdorman.
Eivor casted her vote and the new ealdorman was chosen.
