Scorched Earth was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir 's genetic memories , relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5 .
Eivor met with Soma west of Crawleah to destroy Fulke 's supplies.
Eivor arrived at Crawleah.
Eivor: Fulke's men get their weapons from Crawleah. I will see what I can do about that. Soma should be somewhere nearby. Eivor found and spoke with Soma about their attack on Fulke's supply .
Eivor: Soma. What is happening here? Soma: Bandits , taking advantage of the disorder in Suthsexe to fill their pockets. Odin smiles on us today.
Eivor: Let us make sure this place is burned to the ground. Fulke will get no more weapons from here.
Eivor: I have burned part of the town already. Finish the job with me. Fulke will get no more weapons from here.
Soma: We could charge in while they are distracted, but it would be safer to use fire arrows.
Eivor: We strike hard. No better time than now. Soma: Lead and I will follow. Eivor and Soma charged to Crawleah.
Soma: Move in! We take the fight to the enemy! Eivor and Soma began to burn down the houses and carts.
Soma: Fulke's plans will be smoke and ash. Eivor: She will not hide from me! They pushed further in, burning more of the town.
Eivor: Burn this town to the ground! Soma: Fulke's men will have to fight with twigs. The town neared total destruction.
Soma: Good work, Eivor. Eivor: Soon there will be nothing left. Crawleah's destruction was completed.
Eivor: We burn them from afar. Watch them scatter like cats . Soma: A sound decision. I agree. Soma: Archers, take your position! Stand ready, Eivor. When they see us, they will charge. We must defend the men. soldiers coming at them.
Soma: Here they come! Stand fast, Eivor! Protect the archers! Eivor: They will not get past me! Soma: More Saxons Hold them back! Eivor: Come at me, Saxons! I will cut you down like wheat ! Soma: Save your energy, Eivor. There may be more yet! Soma: Again they come! How many more can there be? Soma: Their numbers dwindle. We are winning! Eivor: Do not falter now, Soma! Soma: Never. Eivor and Soma held their stance as the archers completed their burning of Crawleah.
Eivor: Enough! Crawleah dances with hearth-tongues. Soon it will be ashes. Soma: Archers! Lower your bows and return to camp!
At any point, Eivor changed tactics, breaking off from Soma and storming the town directly.
Soma: We cannot leave the archers undefended! Eivor: The best defense is to attack! Go! Get in their teeth! Soma: Move in, men! Storm the town!
Eivor: I left Fulke's supply carts in cinders. Good to see they have not been replaced. She will get no more weapons from here. Soma: Victory without risk? I'll take that.
Eivor and Soma reflected on the soot heap to which Crawleah had been reduced.

Eivor: The forges have been destroyed. No more weapons will be made here. Soma: Well fought, Eivor. My archers and I will return to camp and await your further orders. Soma left with her men as Eivor proceeded to her next task.
Eivor and Soma destroyed Crawleah's supplies.
The main target of the memory appears to be the oil carts ostensibly carrying Fulke's weapon supplies. However, destroying all six of these in advance of speaking to Soma will only get the "partial burning" dialogue. All straw-roofed buildings must be burned as well to count towards "complete burning" in advance of speaking to Soma.
On occasion, the progress bar may dip back down in the "use the archers" scenario, before eventually refilling at a seemingly fixed time interval. Killing all enemy waves in rapid succession does not appear to make the bar fill faster, and their arrows will only strike the same relative section of Crawleah while the bar advances. The only solution is to outlast the waves of enemies—the last of which contains a powerful housecarl enemy—and then wait for the burning to complete.
Like the other two quests, the last one to be completed will have its closing words overwritten with the opening words of Storming the Walls .
