The Prodigy was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.[1]

Eivor heard a bard arguing with a bishop and investigated.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Eivor approached the Agnitum Tower and witnessed a shirtless man, who led a musical troupe arranged behind him, and a bishop arguing. A mob had gathered behind the bishop.
- Keith: All we want is to share our music with the world!
- Bishop of the Ruins: Devote yourselves to Godlier activities.
- Keith: You stomp our spirits with your talk of devils.
- Bishop of the Ruins: God will strike you down for your malodorous melodies! Dancing! Music! Songs and poems, they are all Satan's dark dalliance!
- Keith: Take a breath, all that vitriol can kill a man!
- Bishop of the Ruins: Go back to the hellhole you crawled out of.
- Keith: This is our home! We're not tourists.
The musician lost his concentration from the bishop's rancor.
- Keith: Now you have broken my flow! How can a man compose with you spewing in his ear?
Eivor approached Keith to inquire about the dispute.
- Eivor: Why the wailing?
- Keith: We are a band of bards. Ahead of our time. Musical prodigies even. But that madman, the self-proclaimed Bishop of the Ruins is our biggest critic. He calls our playing "the Devil's bagpipes."
- Eivor: That strange instrument, made of bladder and bone? It does wheeze like an old woman.
- Keith: He drives away our audience with his doom-knelling. All we want is to bring a little joy to this jilted generation.
- Eivor: A worthy aim. Maybe he needs convincing of your talents?
- Keith: You would volunteer? Ah! Your are a lover of fine music, this is surely an omen!
Eivor made to approach the Bishop.
- Bishop of the Ruins: Renounce your perverted ways before the Lord of Flies claims you!
- Keith: Music and dancing make me whole, worry not of my immortal soul.
- Bishop of the Ruins: Ah! My ears are bleeding.
- Keith: Play on, play on!
- Bishop of the Ruins: This cacophony, it is as if a thousand devils grind their pointy teeth!
- Keith: You do not appreciate great art!
Eivor spoke to the Bishop.
- Eivor: Why not let the boy play music? He brings pleasure to the people.
- Bishop of the Ruins: Music is the Devil's wind-breaking! Foul and rancid. I, as the Bishop of the Ruins, will not stand for it.
- Eivor: Bishop of the Ruins? Is this title Aelfred-given?
- Bishop of the Ruins: It is God-given! He spoke to me as I stood one night pissing against the stones. I am his instrument to stamp out the Devil's tune.
- Eivor: Then you and I must disagree.
Eivor then engaged the Bishop in a bout of fisticuffs.
- Keith: Punch the priest!
Smack my bishop!
Clout that cleric!
After incapacitating the Bishop, Keith thanked Eivor.
- Keith: You have done us a great service! I will compose this day into a song! Farewell.
- Eivor: May you continue to make merry harmonies.
- Keith: Smack my bishop! Smack my bishop!
Eivor read a nearby note.
Child's Ode to His Cat

Eivor defeated the bishop in a fistfight, allowing Keith and his bad to freely compose music.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The title of the memory, as well as Keith's name and appearance, are references to the Essex band The Prodigy and its former singer, Keith Flint.[2] The song sung after the memory's completion "Smack my Bishop", is a reference to the band's song "Smack My Bitch Up". If a torch is pulled in front of Keith, he will reference another Prodigy song, "You are the Firestarter!"
