Champions of the Faith was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description
Eivor's raids caught the attention of the keepers of hallowed grounds.
Dialogue
- Eivor: The Rhine may be long and treacherous but she couldn't hide her riches from me! I took this sword off their Champion.
- Vagn: You continue to impress. It seems as though all your raids have pushed certain sacred sites to seek out protectors. They have hired mercenaries to act as their champions of the gods.
- Eivor: What does this mean for me?
- Vagn: Each river will have their defenses raised to their highest level.
- Eivor: So I should avoid them?
- Vagn: No! You should draw them out, slay them and claim their fancy weapons as your own.
After she had done so, Eivor returned to Vagn.
- Eivor: Vagn! I defeated all the champions and claimed their arms.
- Vagn: Haha! You would have made a fearsome Jomsviking, Eivor.
He handed her a note that had come for her.
- Unsigned Letter
Viking–
Your actions along our rivers have not gone unnoticed. You might steal our treasures and plunder our lands—but you will not hold them. Your paganism is no shield against Divine Justice. Your gods will not hear you when we come for you.
Outcome
Eivor tracked down the Champions of the Faith and defeated them, earning their weapons and a threatening letter.
