One Last Sleepless Night was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.

Dialogue

Eivor returned to the settlement, where the villagers were holding a party. Eivor approached Kassandra, who was standing near the longhouse.

• Kassandra: There you are! Ready for that drink?

(Accept - Let's go inside the longhouse.)

• Eivor: Let's head inside.

Eivor moved towards the building and Kassandra began to follow before halting her steps.

• Eivor: What is it?
• Kassandra: There are... a lot of people. I haven't been to a party in some time. I guess I'm nervous.

I'll watch out for you.You'll be fine.It's just a party.

• Eivor: It's not as though you're going in there alone. I'll be with you.

• Kassandra: I guess you're right. Let's go inside.

The pair entered the building, finding a merry celebration. A drunk man approached them and began dancing with Kassandra, before Eivor pulled him away from her.

• Kassandra: Okay.
• Eivor: (laughs)
• Kassandra: (sighs) Well, I'm ready for a drink. What about you? Hmm, I've always wanted to try mead. Can't be any worse than Markos's wine.

The two began a drinking contest, which Eivor won. They sat at a nearby table.

• Kassandra: You can really hold your mead. Now if we had been drinking wine, I would have won.
• Eivor: Wine! That's child's play!
• Kassandra: Not if it's from Markos's vineyard. That swill could peel paint from a vase.
• Eivor: Markos? Who's Markos?
• Kassandra: An old friend that made truly terrible wine. Maláka.
• Eivor: 'Mel-kah'? You really are drunk! Now you're just spouting nonsense.
• Kassandra: (laughs) No, it's a Greek swear word. It's ma-lá-ka!
• Eivor: Ma-lá-ka. Ma-láka Maláka!
• Kassandra: Maláka! That's it! You got it.
• Eivor: Now let me teach you -

A loud voice interrupted her.

• Wedding Guest: The bride and groom are here!
• Kassandra: Are we... are we crashing a wedding?
• Eivor: It was arrogant to assume these people were here to celebrate us saving their asses. Come. Let's join in their revelry.

The pair left the table and Eivor approached a woman in the back of the longhouse.

• Old Woman: Oh, it's you! Thanks for bringing me to my senses at the Fairy Pools. I would have missed my daughter's wedding if you hadn't.

A loud man shouted.

• Ex-Lover: But I still love you!
• Bride: Please, our courtship is long over and I've married another man. You need to leave.
• Kassandra: What do you say we make that bride's day and get rid of that asshole?
• Eivor: Don't you mean that maláka?
• Kassandra: Indeed!

Eivor and Kassandra fought with the ex-lover and his friends, knocking them out.

• Bride: Oh, thank you! You saved my wedding!
• Kassandra: We actually saved it twice.
• Eivor: All in a day's work.

The pair approached the bride and groom.

• Groom: Aren't you the heroes who saved the island? And our wedding!
• Eivor: I did a little more than she did. But yes.
• Bride: We would love it if you both gave a toast at our wedding.
• Eivor: We hardly know you. What would we say?
• Groom: But your exploits have made our wedding a day to remember! Please, regale us with your tale!
• Kassandra: I could be up for that. What about you, Eivor?

(Accept - All right.)

• Eivor: All right. But if we're going to do this together, Kassandra, let's make it interesting.
• Kassandra: What do you suggest?

Eivor spread her arms wide.

• Eivor: A flyting competition, of course.

Eivor turned and walked to the longhouse's fire pit with Kassandra following.

• Kassandra: Ah, never tried it myself. I should warn you, though, I've battled wits with great philosophers.
• Eivor: Stop boasting and prove yourself.

Eivor and Kassandra stood on opposite ends of the fire pit as the bride and groom sat down. The groom motioned to begin, and Kassandra cleared her throat.

• Kassandra: My day began the strangest way...
  An axe thrown at my head, intending to slay.
  There stood Eivor, hot-headed and brash.

ClashAssFirst

• Eivor: To see us now, you're not believe our clash.

• Eivor: And there stood Kassandra, looking like and ass.

• Eivor: You wish you had the skill to swing first.

The groom nodded approvingly and more people gathered around the women.

• Kassandra: It took an ambush or two and one dusty old temple...
  For Eivor to see that I could be helpful.
  But somehow I've melted her cold, Norse heart...

NightmaresPartStart

• Eivor: As if. I haven't forgotten she caused the nightmares.

• Eivor: It'll sadden me to see my new friend part.

• Eivor: And despite her transgressions, I'll give her a fresh start.

Kassandra looked stunned at Eivor's proclamation and nodded her head in a bow. The groom again approved rhyme and his wife smiled at the word play. Even more people gathered at the fire.

• Kassandra: Eivor did the heavy lifting, left the tracking job to I...
  In the end, we triumphed, chasing the nightmares far from Skye.
  And to the bride and groom on this historic day...

OkayFoolishYour way

• Eivor: Hopefully tonight, you'll finally sleep okay?

• Eivor: Expert tracking? You're foolish.

Eivor grabbed a mug of whisky on a nearby table and raised it in a toast.

• Eivor: If your love survives this, nothing stands in your way.

The entire audience cheered and clapped with the competition over.

• Bride: That was wonderful! You're reallymade this a night to remember.

Walking back to their seats away from the firepit, Kassandra chuckled as the party slowly wound down.

• Kassandra: It's been a while since I've been the center of attention.

Eivor playfully leaned in close to Kassandra's personal space.

• Eivor: How does it feel?

Kassandra huffed and shoved Eivor back, then looked about the room

• Kassandra: Strangely familiar. I'm glad you invited me here tonight.
• Eivor: It was nothing.
• Kassandra: No, really. Thank you. I needed this.

She stuck out an arm, which Eivor clapsed and shook.

• Kassandra: More than I knew.

Eivor winked and smiled as they broke the handshake. Eivor went to get one last mug of mead and saw a familiar face among the guests.

• Eivor: Edyt! Did you come for the wedding?
• Edyt: Couldn't miss it! My cousin is the bride. And of course, I should thank you. Clearly you were able to help my people, otherwise, we wouldn't be here celebrating.
• Eivor: I can't take all the credit. I had some help.
• Edyt: True! Valka put you on this path, after all. Was she right, by the way? Did you part ways with that girl, Randvi, as she foresaw?

Eivor shook her head.

• Eivor: No. Randvi was never on the Isle of Skye.
• Edyt: Ah, well, even Valka makes mistakes. Still, it's good you didn't need to say goodbye to a friend.

Eivor met Kassandra's gaze, nodding at one another, before the Spartan pulled up her hood and left the longhouse.

The next day, Eivor woke up in a pigsty.

• Eivor: What an unforgettable night.
