Lamb Chops was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Eivor heard a man sobbing about a brooch. She decided to see if she could help.
Eivor came upon a sheep herder talking to his flock.
- Merec: One of you swallowed it! Who was it?
There is nothing tasty about a brooch.
My brooch! My brooch! Dear Heaven, I'll never get it back!
She approached him.
- Eivor: Lose something?
- Merec: Polished the family brooch up for my niece, put it down for two seconds, and it's gone! One of the sheep must've swallowed it.
- Eivor: That would be one hungry sheep.
- Merec: It was my grandmother's, given to her by a very wealthy, uh, admirer. How will I get it back without hurting any of my lovely sheep?
Eivor left the man and entered the house, wherein she found a couple of notes.
- Shepherd's Note:
Dearest Alwen,
Thank you for watching the sheep. A few things to note;
-Be wary of loud noises, the sheep scare easy.
-When lighting the torches, do so away from the sheep.
-Remember to feed the sheep from the hay bale. Give extra to Calie, She's a hungry one.
Love, Uncle Merec
- Letter from Niece:
Uncle Merec,
Mother tells me that you wish to give me grandmother's brooch. Oh, dear uncle! I shall treasure such a keepsake!
-Your loving niece
With this information, she formed a few ideas on how she might retrieve the brooch.
Eivor picked up a pile of hay and set it in the pen.
- Merec: Ah, yes! Feed the sheep and see what... comes out...
After a while, one of the sheep painfully passed the brooch.
- Sheep: (pained Baaaa!)
- Merec: See what's there!
- Eivor: By the gods, how do I find myself doing this?
Eivor searched piles of excrement.
- Eivor: Wh-what has this sheep eaten? Nothing in there.
Nothing. I must continue my search.
She took a break and spoke to Merec.
- Eivor: I have had no luck finding your brooch.
- Merec: Alackaday!
She returned to sifting the excrement until she found it.
- Eivor: Hm...Ah! A brooch. Not in very fine condition.
Eivor lit a torch and threw it into the pen, intending to scare them into passing the brooch.
- Merec: You'll frighten the sheep!
Eivor's plan worked, as they all defecated from shock.

She presented the brooch to Merec.
- Eivor: Here's your brooch.
- Merec: Whew! That smell'd knock over a horse!
- Eivor: Just take it.
- Merec: It'll need a washing, but my niece will be grateful! Many thanks, stranger.
- Eivor: I will not help in this way again.
Eivor opted for the quick and bloody solution, and began butchering the sheep.
- Merec: What have you done?
Eivor continued her slaughter.
Eivor eventually retrieved the brooch from one of the sheep's intestines.
- Eivor: Hm...Ah! A brooch. Not in very fine condition.
- Merec: Stop! Have you lost your mind? All my lovelies! You monster!
She presented the brooch to Merec.
- Eivor: Here's your brooch.
- Merec: Whew! That smell'd knock over a horse!
- Eivor: Just take it.
- Merec: It'll need a washing, but my niece will be so grateful! Many thanks, stranger.
- Eivor: I will not help in this way again.
- Merec: Did you have to kill Dewdrop? She had such soulful brown eyes.
- Eivor: You wanted the brooch. You have it. Your niece will be grateful.
Eivor fed the sheep with hay and recovered the brooch.
