Ringing Cyne Belle was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description
Eivor met with Geadric to speak to him about the planning the assault on Cyne Belle Castle.
Dialogue
Eivor regrouped with Geadric and his fyrd at the Derelict Shrine of Camulus. As she entered the camp, some of the soldiers called out to her.
- Anglo-Saxon Soldier 1: Look lads, there's Eivor!
- Anglo-Saxon Soldier 2: We're with you, Eivor!
- Anglo-Saxon Soldier 3: Those castle walls won't be thick enough to stop us!
- Anglo-Saxon Soldier 4: Long live Geadric!
- Anglo-Saxon Soldier 5: None will stop us!
- Anglo-Saxon Soldier 6: Eivor, Geadric and victory!
Eivor looked around the camp. In a tent to one side, she found a note.
- Note to Eldest Son
We're right proud of you soldiering and all, Ned, but we need you back home. Your father can't half harvest the crops with that wrist of his, and your brother's perilous drunk most of the day. Please leave the war to itself and come home.
To the other side of the camp she found a letter.
- To Be Given to My Mother Should I Die
Mum. They've a strong fort, and I'm told we must take it. When the boiling oil pours down, I'll hear me mates' screams just afore it reaches me.
Me last thought will be of you, Mum.
Ned
(If Eivor spoke to Geadric in the camp before Fiery Ambush was complete)
- Geadric: We ain't ready to attack yet, Eivor. Eadwyn's still too strong. Too well supplied, and got more men coming.
- Eivor: I'll return soon.
In the ruins to the center of camp, Eivor found Geadric giving orders to a couple soldiers.
- Geadric: See that our fletchers have arrows enough for everyone. Twenty to a man.
As those soldiers walked away, Geadric turned to another.
- Geadric: Bring those men here. In formation.
Once that soldier had left, Geadric paced anxiously.
- Geadric: God above. Will we never be ready?
Eivor approached and spoke to him.

- Eivor: Geadric.
- Geadric: Eivor. Have you dealt Eadwyn a few bruising blows?
- Eivor: I have. She'll feel the pain soon enough.
- Geadric: Excellent. My men are itching to attack the fortress, but we'd be fools to force it now.
- Eivor: Why is that?
- Geadric: On account of Eadwyn's got too many traps and defenses. Her springalds'd cut us to bloody stumps, before they poured boiling oil upon us like a summer tempest!
- Eivor: Keep the men at the ready. I'll slip in alone and see what I can do about these defenses.
- Geadric: By my joints and ankles, you're a tough one.
Eivor left the shrine and went to Cyne Belle alone.
- Eivor: The castle keep looks impregnable. That will be Eadwyn's last stand.
Eivor snuck into the fortress.
- Eivor: Alright. I'm in.
Eivor found some of the springalds.
- Eivor: The springalds are large bolt-casters. I must disable them.

She broke or sabotages the springalds. Atop the wall over the inner gate, she found cauldrons for pouring boiling oil.
- Eivor: I could rig these cauldrons.
Eivor sabotaged the cauldrons. After destroying some stocks of supplies and breaking or sabotaging some of the springalds and cauldrons, Eivor decided she'd sufficiently weakened the castle defenses.
- Eivor: There's more to be done, but this should be enough to launch the assault. Now it's down to Geadric to lead his men.
Eivor left the fortress. Back at Geadric's camp, she found Sigurd, Basim, and Fulke had arrived, and Sigurd appeared to be arguing with Geadric.
- Geadric: I say we wait. There's too much riding on this.
- Sigurd: I am Sigurd Jarl, Lord of East Mercia. And I say we fight. Now.
- Geadric: You're a good man, Sigurd. And I'm thankful for all you've done. But without Eivor, I make no moves. We wait.
Outcome
Eivor destroyed or sabotaged six pieces of defense mechanisms.
