Eivor placed the five shards into the pedestal inside the Cave of Gold and entered the mysterious passage.
Dialogue
Eivor inserted the last triangle shard into the pedestal's top slot. The triangles immediately began to glow a bright yellow energy which flowed through channels into the ground and to a door. As the door powered up and gave off yellow-orange light, it hummed and opened as Eivor stood before it. She stepped in and traveled through the cave until she reached another grand door surrounded by cursed villagers. After dealing with them, Eivor stepped towards the door and saw light fixtures around the room.
Distraced, Eivor failed to see a villager from an upper ledge behind her pick up a spear and throw it at her unprotected back. At the last second, a loosed arrow intercepted the spear in midair to divert it over Eivor's left shoulder, landing paces in front of her. Startled, Eivor turned and snarled on spotting her attacker, who drew his sword, until another loosed arrow lodged itself through his neck, killing him.
Kassandra jumped down and joined Eivor as both warriors were surrounded by cursed civilians. Eivor and Kassandra started to fight their cursed attackers.
Eivor:I had this under control.
Kassandra:Under control? Looks like you were about to get skewered.
Eivor:I can defend myself. You didn't need to come.
Kassandra:Admit it. You missed me.
Eivor:Let me rephrase that. You shouldn't have come.
Kassandra:I know my presence make things complicated...
Eivor:These people are attacking me because of you.
Kassandra:I know, I know! Can we talk about this once they're dead?
Eivor and Kassandra defeated the cursed villagers.
Kassandra:I should have been honest about my presence activating the artifact. I'm sorry. And I know me being here makes reaching the artifact harder.
Eivor:Harder? No one would be trying to kill me if you weren't here right now.
Kassandra:I know! But trust me, you will need my help once we reach the artifact. These people are nothing compared to its power.
Eivor:I'm not getting rid of you, am I?
Kassandra:Don't worry. I'll grow on you. I've seen mechanisms like this before. I'll get the light working. You direct the beams to those plates near the door.
Eivor helped Kassandra and noticed that he can move the globe mechanisms.
Eivor:So I can move these. I see.
From their configurations, Eivor and Kassandra opened the door.
Kassandra:There! It's opening!
Eivor:Finally.
Kassandra and Eivor walked through the doorway. Both started to see materials from Ancient Greece, such as shields and helmets from both Sparta and Athens.
Eivor:Those pots and weapons are so strange.
Kassandra:They're from my land.
Eivor:What are they doing here?
Kassandra:It's an illusion caused by the artifact.
Eivor:And you being near it?
As both continued on, Eivor took notice of a mask, unaware of its significance.
Eivor:That mask looks unique.
Kassandra:I've torn many of those masks from the faces of cultists. Even knowing they're illusions, to see all these things from my... my...
Eivor:Home?
Kassandra:I don't have a home. Not anymore.
Eivor and Kassandra continued walking until Kassandra stopped to see a wooden figurine of an eagle, she saw during her past. Kassandra stopped as Eivor turned to see a shocked Kassandra. As she grabbed the figurine, Kassandra dropped to her knees and shook her head.
Emotional, Kassandra kneeled there as Eivor noticed the Isle of Skye's Apple of Eden. Eivor cautiously approached the pedestal that held the pulsating Apple of Eden. Steadying herself, she grabbed it with both hands, and the Apple instantly glowed as a voice whispered in Eivor's ear.
Eivor screamed in pain from all of the apple's power.
Eivor:Kassandra!
Kassandra rounded the corner, running at full sprint into the Apple's chamber. As Eivor collapsed to the ground holding the Apple, Kassandra slid beside her and also placed her hands on it to share its energy. In doing so, it created a ghostly golden phantasm behind Eivor and Kassandra. Eventually, the Apple's energy ran out, dissipating the phantom, and the two women could finally stand on shaky feet. Catching their breaths, Eivor looked approvingly at the now inert Apple.
Eivor: (sigh) All that trouble for this?
Kassandra shrugged.
Eivor: (breath) You keep it.
Eivor handed the apple to Kassandra as both chuckled. Eivor and Kassandra snickered at what happened. Both warriors walked out of the chamber.
Kassandra:Admit it, we make a good team.
Eivor:You're not so bad to work with, after all. Terrible at following orders, though.
Kassandra:Give me a little credit. It's my first time working with another person in... I don't know how many years.
Eivor:That must get lonely.
Eivor stopped as Kassandra turned towards her.
Kassandra:It does, from time to time. But it's the path I'm meant to walk. Anyway, I should get going. It's not good for me to stay in one place long. Thank you for your help. Truly.
Kassandra bid farewell to Eivor, who walked forward to stop her.
Eivor:Wait. The Norse celebrate their victories. And since in the end, you did help... Why not come out for a drink with me?
Kassandra winced at the occassion.
Kassandra:I... I don't know about that. It's not really good for me to be seen by too many people.
Eivor:If everyone drinks enough, no one will ever know you were here.
Kassandra shook her head happily.
Kassandra:All right. What can it hurt?
Eivor:Hopefully your head tomorrow morning if we have a great time. Meet you at the longhouse in Kiltaraglen?
Kassandra:See you there.
Kassandra waved off as Eivor smiled at the prospect for a night out.
Eivor:TBA.
Outcome
Eivor and Kassandra found the artifact and fixed the nightmares, effectively ending the plague across the island.
