King of the Hay People was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description[edit | edit source]
Eivor came across a field of burning hay men and approached a man sitting on a throne.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Eivor came upon a large man sitting on a throne of hay. He sat before a "court" of burning straw men.
- Anglo-Saxon Soldier: How dare you look at me like that! Show respect to your liege!
Bow! Why won't you bow to your kind?
You! Serf! Bring me ale!
Eivor read a note near the man's throne.
Leaf from the King's Journal
- That merchant was no quack but a worker of miracles! How fitting that a potion named for the Roman god of travelers should ease the pains in my knees so much.
Eivor looted the treasure nearby the man, at which point he turned hostile.
- Anglo-Saxon Soldier: You dare to steal the royal treasure! Guards! Guards!
Get him, men!
Nobody touches the king's gold!
Come on, all of you! Kill the traitor!
Eivor killed the man.
- Eivor: A king of straw men. Well, there's an end to his madness, poor soul.
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Eivor killed the goliath.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The goliath refers to Eivor as "him" despite the gender the player uses. This is either a leftover from the development process before Eivor was considered canonically female, or another sign of the goliath's addlement (in addition to holding court with a field of burning scarecrows).
