Raising Iron was a virtual representation of one of Eivor's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description
Oswald is dead, but the threat of Rued's clan remains. What can be done to drive them from East Anglia once and for all?
Dialogue
Eivor approached some Roman ruins in East Anglia's Theotford Forest.
- Eivor: Dark spirits rule the ethers.
Entering the ruins, Eivor found the remains of a dead Viking obscured by overgrown shrubbery.
- Eivor: A fallen warrior, neglected by the Valkyries.
Eivor walked to the central stage in the ruins, where a burned corpse was still tied to a stake.
- Eivor: This one suffered a great deal before dying.
Suddenly, thunder crashed and a bolt of lightning struck the corpse. Blinded, Eivor raised their hands, only for a cloud of blue-grey smoke to gather about their face and induce a hallucinatory state. A figure emerged from the opposite end of the ruins and menacingly approached Eivor.
Coughing, Eivor turned to face Cordelia.
- Eivor: I do not know such a man.
Cordelia continued walking forward as lightning sparked across Eivor.
- Cordelia: He was betrayed and murdered. By those who denied his friendship, just as you deny him now!
Eivor stepped down from the stage and walked to Cordelia.
- Eivor: (coughing) Hold there, I am not your enemy!
The two met in the open grounds at the center of the ruins as Cordelia surrounded the place with smoke.
- Cordelia: Darkness must reign. And you must fade within it! (Screams)
- Eivor: I will not be taken by a demon goddess.
Eivor initiated combat with Cordelia, who teleported away to create phantoms of herself which charged at Eivor.
- Eivor: How can there be so many of you?
Cordelia resumed combat, continually teleporting away from Eivor's attacks or up close to deliver her own.
- Eivor: Your tricks will not topple me!
Away with all this!
Cursed Seidr!
After suffering much damage, Cordelia quickly changed tactics, casting a wide circle of blue fire around herself which exploded, temporarily throwing the ruins into total darkness and knocking Eivor back.
- Cordelia: Now you face the end! You demon-ploughing dog! I was to be Lady of Mercia!
Cordelia teleported to another part of the ruins and called a lightning strike down around her.
- Eivor: She commands the power of the wind?
Cordelia teleported in front of Eivor and resumed combat, teleporting at random intervals.
- Eivor: Your story is lost in the rage you spew!
Cordelia caught Eivor in an arm bar and called lighting down on them.
- Eivor: Folly has consumed you.
Cordelia teleported away and called down bigger lightning strikes, but the bolts did not hit Eivor. Eivor eventually defeated Cordelia, who collapsed to the ground and began fading away as the illusion ended.
- Eivor: Tampered spirit. Leave this place.
- Cordelia: I loved my father. What choice did I have! Only God knows a love more pure. Now I depart to see them both.
Outcome
Eivor met a manifestation of Cordelia and fought it, eventually defeating the spirit and taking possession of her dagger, completing one of the many mysteries in East Anglia.
