War of the Collectors was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Eivor came across a man discussing statues.
Eivor travelled to Lunden and arrived at Maximilian's house, where she found a note by the door.

Eivor left to wait for Maximilian to return. The next day, she revisited his museum and found him berating a woman.
Eivor approached Maximilian.
Maximilian chuckled in glee.
Maximilian led Eivor inside the museum, unlocking the door. Eivor retrieved the statuette.
Eivor paid the child and walked back to the museum as the girl followed closely behind. Coming to Maximilian standing outside his door, Eivor waited on the other side of the street and watched as the girl talked to the curator.
The girl ran off down the street and around the corner with Maximilian following at a brisk pace, lost in his excitement at the possibility of procuring more artifacts.
With Maximilian drawn away, Eivor walked up to a stool beside the veranda near his front door and stole his house key, while the girl repeated a list of Roman busts she made up on the spot.
Eivor unlocked Maximilian's front door, and the heavy lock fell to the ground with a loud clang.

Furious at having been tricked, Maximilian rounded the corner as the girl signaled to Eivor.
Sufficiently warned in time, Eivor watched from across the street as the curator ran into his house and closed the door. With Maximilian away, Eivor found the girl in the museum's backyard and spoke to her again.
Eivor returned to Maximilian's house and opened the door, where she saw him kneeling and weeping at the desk where the statue had been placed. Pretending as though she had not just stolen the statue moments ago, she spoke to him.
Eivor left the girl and returned later, repeating their previous conversation.
Within Maximilian's house, Eivor also quickly scanned a note on a desk on the wall opposite where the statuette sat.
Maximilian's Journal
Eivor obtained the man's statue by buying it, convincing him to give it, or by stealing it.
This memory is only available after starting A Rivalry for the Ages, even though its map marker will always be present on Lunden's map until completion. This is merely to show where the location of the event will be when the conditions are met. As this requires renovating the Museum, this makes "War of the Collectors" one of only two world events in the game that require specific Ravensthorpe renovations before they can be be completed, the other being Fishing Lesson.
The graphic for the key is displayed on the stool outside Maximilian's home by default. It can only be interacted with if players opt to infiltrate the house with the urchin's help, and will temporarily remove the graphic from the stool. Afterwards, the key's graphic will reset along with the other actors involved in the memory once the area unloads, whether or not the key was obtained.
Regardless of how Eivor obtains the statue, even buying it directly, Maximilian will send an angry letter accusing Octavian of sending Eivor to "pilfer" it. It will not appear until the statue is handed to Octavian to complete 'A Rivalry for the Ages.'
