Last Flight of the Gyldan Sparrow was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.

Description

Eivor came across a group of villagers at Lunden docks.

Dialogue

Eivor came upon a conversation on the docks.

• Norse Woman: I heard the Gyldan Sparrow was carrying more 'n candies and spice from Aksum. He had a hefty necklace in there too.
• Anglo-Saxon Man: Makes sense as to why The Compass would send the whole boat into the drink then. Bloody shame. Worth a pretty penny.

She found a note left on a nearby crate.

My boat, and all its priceless cargo, has met its end at the bottom of the river. If you recover any please contact--

She approached the group.

• Eivor: This harbor houses sunken treasure?
• Norse Woman: Ja, the current's too strong to pull the wreck out, so we're left to lament the loss. You interested?
• Eivor: I am a strong swimmer. I fear no cold, current, or drengr of the deep.
• Norse Woman: Then by all means, we can scrape together a reward fit for the cargo's rescue.

Eivor swam towards the wreck.

• Eivor: That must be the corpse of the Gyldan Sparrow that merchant mentioned.

She looted two chests from it and returned to the surface.

• Eivor: One chest with treasure, another with this bottled message. I wonder if it has preserved its message.

Eivor read the message.

Waterlogged Note
Compass keeps taking too healthy a share of my wares. Watch the bastard try to take my coin when they're stuffed inside a cow's stomach.

She approached the group again.

• Norse Woman: A message in a bottle? Ah, wise. Hid a necklace in a cow's stomach. Guess you'll have to go fishing for the rest of the treasure.

Eivor returned to the water's edge and started fishing. She hooked a fish.

• Eivor: Come now, you little scaled cowards. Pull on my line.

Eivor pulled in a large pollock and retrieved the treasure from it.

• Eivor: Slippery bastards. Must be the necklace. That is a lot of silver. Why shouldn't I keep it?

Eivor approached the group again.

• Eivor: I have the treasure you seek.
• Norse Woman: Do you? Please, give it here, then.

Here you go.Actually, I'll keep it.

• Eivor: Found this necklace in the guts of a fish. I could not get rid of the smell.
• Norse Woman: Even reeking of fish, this is priceless. Many thanks!

• Eivor: I risked my neck swimming into the drink, so the spoils are mine.

Outcome

Eivor recovered the treasure from the shipwreck, caught a pollock and either gave the woman her necklace or kept it for herself.

Behind the Scenes

If Eivor kept the necklace, it goes from a quest item to a trinket and can be sold for 62 silver. Despite the woman's claims of a reward if it's "returned", there doesn't seem to be one.
